Abstract
An automotive refinish coating mixer system includes (a) one or both of (i) at least one pellet of a compressed mixture of metal pigment and a powdered, water-soluble polymer and (ii) at least one pre-measured portion of metal flake pigment sealed in water-soluble polymer film; (b) a plurality of aqueous pigmented and unpigmented bases; and (c) a reducer base.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An automotive refinish coating mixer system, comprising:
(a) at least one of
a pellet, the pellet comprising a compressed mixture of a metal pigment and a powdered, water-soluble polymer, and
(ii) a pre-measured portion of a metal pigment sealed in a water-soluble polymer film;
(b) a plurality of aqueous pigmented and unpigmented bases; and (c) a reducer base.
2 . The automotive refinish coating mixer system according to claim 1 , wherein the pellet (i) is present and wherein the metal pigment comprises an aluminum pigment.
3 . The automotive refinish coating mixer system according to claim 2 , wherein the water-soluble polymer of the pellet (i) comprises polyvinylpyrrolidone.
4 . The automotive refinish coating mixer system according to claim 2 , wherein the pellet (i) comprises a water soluble coating.
5 . The automotive refinish coating mixer system according to claim 1 , wherein the pre-measured portion (ii) is present and wherein the metal pigment comprises an aluminum pigment.
6 . The automotive refinish coating mixer system according to claim 5 , wherein the water-soluble polymer of the pre-measured portion (ii) comprises polyvinyl alcohol.
7 . The automotive refinish coating mixer system according to claim 1 , wherein the metal pigment comprises a surface treatment that resists degradation by water.
8 . A pellet comprising:
a compressed mixture of a metal pigment, and a powdered, water-soluble polymer.
9 . The pellet according to claim 8 , wherein the metal pigment comprises an aluminum pigment.
10 . The pellet according to claim 8 , wherein the water-soluble polymer comprises polyvinylpyrrolidone.
11 . The pellet according to claim 8 , wherein the metal pigment comprises a surface treatment that resists degradation by water.
12 . The pellet according to claim 8 , wherein the pellet further comprises a water-soluble coating.
13 . A pre-measured portion of a metal pigment sealed in a water-soluble polymer film.
14 . The pre-measured portion according to claim 13 , wherein the metal pigment comprises an aluminum pigment.
15 . The pre-measured portion according to claim 13 , wherein the water-soluble polymer comprises polyvinyl alcohol.
16 . The pre-measured portion according to claim 13 , wherein the metal pigment comprises a surface treatment that resists degradation by water.
17 . A method of making a coating composition, the method comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of:
incorporating the pellet according to claim 8 , and incorporating a pre-measured portion of a metal pigment sealed in a water-soluble polymer film.
18 . A method of making a coating composition, the method comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of:
incorporating a pellet comprising a mixture of a metal pigment and a powdered water-soluble polymer, and incorporating the pre-measured portion according to claim 13 .Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
