Abstract

Reactive targets and target frames are provided that react to being impacted by a projectile in such a manner as to cause longitudinal movement and/or rotation of the target frame. The movement, in turn, exposes different primary targets and/or a secondary target(s) to the participant. Participants can take either offensive shots against the competitor's targets or defensive shots to protect their targets from being impacted by the competitor.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A projectile target system comprising:
a frame at least a portion of which is displaceable; at least one primary target securely attached to the frame; and at least one secondary target attached to the frame and comprising an impact signal element.

2 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame is triangular.

3 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame is star-shaped.

4 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame comprises paddles.

5 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame comprises a tensioning member.

6 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame comprises magnetized support members.

7 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame comprises statically associated elements.

8 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame comprises a plurality of lateral members extending from opposite sides of the frame.

9 . The projectile target system of claim 1 further comprising tracks upon which at least a portion of the frame rests.

10 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the frame is rotatable around an axis.

11 . The projectile target system of claim 10 wherein a rotation around the axis is biased such that the rotation stops at a defined location.

12 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the impact signal element of the at least one secondary target comprises a pin and at least one recess that is complementary to the pin such that the pin may enter a portion of the recess.

13 . The projectile target system of claim 1 wherein the at least one secondary target is attached to the frame by friction fit.

14 . A method for interactive projectile target practice comprising:
providing a target system comprising a frame attached to a first target; moving at least a portion of the frame incrementally by transferring a portion of an impact force received from a projectile by the first target to the frame; exposing a secondary target attached to the frame; impacting the second target with a projectile; signaling the impacting of the second target with a projectile.

15 . A method for interactive projectile target practice of claim 14 wherein the step of moving the frame incrementally by transferring a portion of an impact force received from a projectile by the first target to the frame comprises rotating the first target about an axis.

16 . A method for interactive projectile target practice of claim 14 wherein the step of moving the frame incrementally by transferring a portion of an impact force received from a projectile by the first target to the frame comprises rotating the frame around an axis.

17 . A method for interactive projectile target practice of claim 14 wherein the step of impacting the second target with a projectile comprises breaking the second target.

18 . A method for interactive projectile target practice of claim 14 wherein the step of impacting the second target with a projectile comprises displacing the second target.

19 . A method for interactive projectile target practice of claim 14 wherein the step of signaling the impacting of the second target with a projectile comprises collapsing the frame.

         20 . A projectile target system comprising:
a frame; a target attached to the frame such that a movement of the target results in a movement of the entire frame.
