Abstract

Methods of treating developmental disorders by administering a pharmaceutical composition of pipradrol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are provided. The methods may be used to treat conditions such as epilepsy, Landau-Kleffner Syndrome, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and Dravet syndrome.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 7 . (canceled)

8 . A method of treating a seizure disorder comprising administering to a patient in need thereof pipradrol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

9 . The method of claim 8 wherein the seizure disorder is selected from the group consisting of epilepsy, Landau-Kleffner syndrome, benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE), intractable childhoof epilepsy (ICE), childhood absence epilepsy (CAE), juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), infantile spasms (or West syndrome), a sodium channel protein type 1 subunit alpha (Scn1A)-related disorder, and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS).

10 . The method of claim 8 wherein the seizure disorder is a childhood epilepsy syndrome selected from the group consisting of benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE), childhood absence epilepsy (CAE), juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), infantile spasms (or West syndrome), and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS).

11 . The method of claim 8 wherein the seizure disorder is epilepsy.

12 . The method of claim 8 wherein the seizure disorder is Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS).

13 . The method of claim 8 wherein the seizure disorder is Landau-Kleffner syndrome.

14 . The method of claim 8 wherein the patient is administered a daily dosage in the range of about 0.1 mg to about 50 mg pipradrol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof

15 . The method of claim 8 wherein the patient is administered pharmaceutical composition comprising about 0.1 mg to about 50 mg pipradrol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

16 . The method of claim 8 wherein the composition provides reduction in the frequency of seizures, the severity of seizures, or a combination thereof in a patient diagnosed with the childhood epilepsy syndrome.

17 . The method of claim 8 further comprising administering a second compound selected from the group consisting of gaboxadol, acetazolamide, carbamazepine, clobazam, clonazepam, eslicarbazepine acetate, ethosuximide, gabapentin, lacosamide, lamotrigine, leviteracetam, nitrazepam, oxcarbazepine, perampanel, piracetam, phenobarbital, phenytoin, pregabalin, primidone, retigabine, rufinamide, sodium valproate, stiripentol, tiagabine, topiramate, vigabatrin, and zonisamide.
