Abstract

A potato chip lifting apparatus has a elongated handle with a front side and a back side, the back side having a plurality of catching mechanisms extending from the back side of the elongated handle and away from the elongated handle, the catching mechanisms configured to engage a can in which potato chips are stored. A foot portion is removably and rotatably attached to a bottom portion of the elongated handle, the foot portion movable between a first position and a second position, in the second position the foot portion extends in a direction away from the front side of the handle and generally orthogonal to the elongated handle and the front side thereof.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 19 . (canceled)

20 . A potato chip lifting apparatus comprising:
an elongated handle, the elongated handle having a front side and a back side and a plurality of thinned areas along its length to provide breaking points; a foot portion removably attached to a bottom portion of the elongated handle, the foot portion movable between a first position and a second position, in the second position the foot portion extends in a direction away from the front side of the handle and generally orthogonal to the elongated handle and the front side thereof; and a projection disposed on the foot portion and extending rearwardly therefrom, the projection engaging an opening in the elongated handle in the second position.

21 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 20 , wherein the bottom portion of the elongated handle has a central portion and two extensions attached to the central portion and projecting away from one another and configured to engage the foot portion.

22 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 21 , wherein each of the two extensions project outwardly from each side of the central portion and between the front and back side.

23 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 21 , the foot portion having a front end and a back end, the back end of the foot portion having receptacles to rotatably receive the two extensions attached to the central portion of the elongated handle.

24 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 20 , further comprising a stability element, the stability element connected to the foot portion and engaging the front side of the elongated handle in the second position.

25 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 24 , wherein the stability element has a generally concave shape.

26 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 20 , wherein the elongated handle and the foot portion are disposed at about a 90° angle in the second position.

27 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 20 , wherein the handle and the foot portion fit between a side wall of a can in which potato chips are stored and a stack of potato chips disposed in the can.

28 . The potato chip lifting apparatus according to claim 20 , wherein the foot portion can be rotated relative to a stack of potato chips in a can, the foot portion disposed transverse to the potato chips.
