Remote mobile payment
Abstract
A remote mobile payment computer system is disclosed. The computer system may include a server computer system which comprises a data storage device, computer processors, and memory storing processor-executable program instructions. The data storage device may store data defining a plurality of policies, at least one of the policies associated with a mobile application installed on a remote mobile device. The program instructions may cause the processor to provide funds, associated with a claim under one of the plurality of policies, to a payment account, and permit access to the payment account by a payment application program on the mobile device, to effect contactless payment from the payment account, via an RFID unit of the mobile device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A computer system, comprising:
a server computer system, comprising:
a data storage device storing data defining a plurality of policies, at least one of the policies associated with a mobile application installed on a remote mobile device;
one or more computer processors configured to execute program instructions and to retrieve the data defining a plurality of policies from the data storage device; and
a memory, coupled to the one or more computer processors, storing processor-executable program instructions, which instructions, when executed by the one or more computer processors, cause the one or more computer processors to:
provide funds, associated with a claim under one of the plurality of policies, to a payment account for an insured under the one of the plurality of policies; and
permit access to the payment account by a payment application program on the mobile device, to effect contactless payment from the payment account, via an RFID unit of the mobile device.
2 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the data storage device further stores data indicative of location-based coverage rules associated with each of the stored policies, at least one of the policies associated with a mobile insurance application operated by an insured, wherein a location-based insurance coverage rule defines a geographical coverage area within which an activity by the insured is covered by the least one insurance policy and outside of which the activity by the insured is not covered by the at least one insurance policy;
the program instructions further causing the one or more computer processors to:
receive, from a mobile device, location data collected by the mobile device;
determine, based at least in part on the location data and the location-based insurance coverage rule, that the activity associated with the insured is not covered by the at least one insurance policy because the insured is not within the geographical coverage area; and
transmit, to the mobile device, information indicating that the activity is not covered by the at least one insurance policy.
3 . The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the insured is a driver and the at least one of the insurance policies is an automobile insurance policy associated with an automobile being operated by the driver, and the program instructions for execution by the computer processor to transmit information indicating that operation of the automobile by the driver is not covered by the automobile insurance policy because the driver's current location is not within the geographical coverage area.
4 . The computer system of claim 3 , wherein the program instructions when executed by one or more computer processors, further cause the one or more computer processors to:
receive a request from the mobile device to expand the geographical coverage area of the automobile insurance policy to include the driver's current location; and transmit, to the mobile device, terms and conditions for the additional automobile insurance policy coverage.
5 . The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the insured entity is a worker and the insurance policy is a commercial job site-based insurance policy, and the transmitting information includes transmitting information indicating that work performed by the worker is not covered by the commercial job site-based insurance policy because the worker's current location is not within the geographical coverage area.
6 . The computer system of claim 5 , further storing program code executable by the computer to:
receive information from the mobile device identifying a scope of work to be performed at the worker's current location; receive a request from the mobile device to add an additional job site to the geographical coverage area based on the worker's current location; and generate terms and conditions for the additional commercial job site-based insurance policy coverage based on the information identifying the scope of the work.
7 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
accessing, by a server computer system, a data storage device storing data defining a plurality of policies, at least one of the policies associated with a mobile application installed on a remote mobile device; providing funds, associated with a claim relating to the at least one of the policies, by the server computer system, to a payment account for the insured; and executing, by the mobile device, a payment application program to access the payment account, and providing contactless payment from the payment account by an RFID unit of the mobile device.
8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the data storage device further stores data indicative of location-based coverage rules associated with each of the stored policies, at least one of the policies associated with a mobile insurance application operated by an insured, wherein a location-based insurance coverage rule defines a geographical coverage area within which an activity by the insured is covered by the least one insurance policy and outside of which the activity by the insured is not covered by the at least one insurance policy;
further comprising:
receiving, by the server computer, from a mobile device, location data collected by the mobile device;
determining, by the server computer, based at least in part on the location data and the location-based insurance coverage rule, that the activity associated with the insured is not covered by the at least one insurance policy because the insured is not within the geographical coverage area; and
transmitting, by the server computer, to the mobile device, information indicating that the activity is not covered by the at least one insurance policy.
9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the insured is a driver and the at least one of the insurance policies is an automobile insurance policy associated with an automobile being operated by the driver, and further comprising, transmitting, by the server computer, to the mobile device, information indicating that operation of the automobile by the driver is not covered by the automobile insurance policy because the driver's current location is not within the geographical coverage area.
10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , further comprising:
receiving, by the server computer, a request from the mobile device to expand the geographical coverage area of the automobile insurance policy to include the driver's current location; and transmitting, by the server computer, to the mobile device, terms and conditions for the additional automobile insurance policy coverage.
11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the insured entity is a worker and the insurance policy is a commercial job site-based insurance policy, and the transmitting information includes transmitting information indicating that work performed by the worker is not covered by the commercial job site-based insurance policy because the worker's current location is not within the geographical coverage area.
12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising:
receiving, by the server computer, information from the mobile device identifying a scope of work to be performed at the worker's current location; receiving, by the server computer, a request from the mobile device to add an additional job site to the geographical coverage area based on the worker's current location; and generating, by the server computer, terms and conditions for the additional commercial job site-based insurance policy coverage based on the information identifying the scope of the work.
13 . A non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing program code, which, when executed by one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to:
provide funds, associated with a claim under one of a plurality of policies, to a payment account for an insured under the one of the plurality of policies; and permit access to the payment account by a payment application program on a mobile device, to effect contactless payment from the payment account, via an RFID unit of the mobile device.
14 . The computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:
receive, from a mobile device, location data collected by the mobile device; determine, based at least in part on the location data and the location-based insurance coverage rule, that the activity associated with the insured is not covered by the at least one policy because an insured associated with the policy is not within the geographical coverage area of the policy; and transmit, to the mobile device, information indicating that the activity is not covered by the at least one insurance policy.
15 . The computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the insured is a driver and the at least one of the insurance policies is an automobile insurance policy associated with an automobile being operated by the driver, and the program code, when executed by the one or more processors, further causes the one or more processors to transmit information indicating that operation of the automobile by the driver is not covered by the automobile insurance policy because the driver's current location is not within the geographical coverage area.
16 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the program code, when executed by the one or more processors, further causes the one or more processors to:
receive a request from the mobile device to expand the geographical coverage area of the automobile insurance policy to include the driver's current location; and transmit, to the mobile device, terms and conditions for the additional automobile insurance policy coverage.
