Diagnostic products having an enzyme and a stabilized coenzyme

Abstract

Storage containers are disclosed for storing at least one diagnostic test element including an enzyme and a stabilized coenzyme. In addition, diagnostic products such as test elements are disclosed that include an enzyme and a stabilized coenzyme, as well as analytical measuring devices including such storage containers and/or diagnostic products. Other aspects include, but are not limited to, unique methods, techniques, products, systems and devices involving test elements, such as test strips, including the enzyme and the stabilized coenzyme.

The invention claimed is: 
     
         1 . A diagnostic product comprising:
 a plurality of interconnected, individually separable test strips in at least one of a bar-shaped and a roll-shaped arrangement, wherein each of the test strips includes a dry detection reagent comprising a dehydrogenase and a stabilized coenzyme.   
     
     
         2 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1 , wherein the dehydrogenase is a nicotine amide adenine dinucleotide (NAD/NADH)-dependent dehydrogenase or nicotine amide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP/NADPH)-dependent dehydrogenase. 
     
     
         3 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1 , wherein the dehydrogenase is a glucose dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.47) or a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.49). 
     
     
         4 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1 , wherein the stabilized coenzyme is a stabilized NAD(P)/NAD(P)H compound. 
     
     
         5 . The diagnostic product of  claim 4 , wherein the stabilized NAD(P)/NAD(P)H compound is carbaNAD. 
     
     
         6 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1  further comprising a mediator selected from the group consisting of a 1,10-phenanthroline quinone, a 1,7-phenanthroline quinone and a 4,7-phenanthroline quinone. 
     
     
         7 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1 , wherein the diagnostic product is essentially free of desiccants. 
     
     
         8 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1  further comprising a needle element for making a small incision in the skin. 
     
     
         9 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1 , wherein diagnostic product exhibits a reduction of enzyme activity of less than one of 50%, 30%, and 20% compared to the initial value of enzyme activity after storage in the storage container for a period selected from the group consisting of at least one of 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks at a temperature of at least one of 20° C., 25° C. and 30° C. 
     
     
         10 . The diagnostic product of  claim 1 , wherein the dry detection reagent further comprises an optical indicator. 
     
     
         11 . The diagnostic product of  claim 10 , wherein the optical indicator is a 2,18-phosphomolybdic acid. 
     
     
         12 . An analytical measuring device comprising at least the diagnostic product of  claim 1 .
