Hair Extension Apparatus

Abstract

The apparatus and method provide for the attachment of hair extensions to natural hair, synthetic hair, wigs and dolls. The apparatus includes at least one snap fastener comprising at least one protruding member, at least one socket member and a flexible material. The protruding member is located at a first area of the flexible material. The socket member is located at a second area of the flexible material. The protruding member and the socket member are attached to the flexible material. A band comprises an endless ring having a central hole therein. The band is partially enveloped by the flexible material when the protruding member and the socket member are engaged and is adapted to secure to natural hair, synthetic hair, wigs and dolls. At least one animal, human or synthetic hair strand extends substantially unidirectionally from the snap fastener and the hair strand is attached to the snap fastener.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A hair extension apparatus comprising:
 at least one snap fastener comprising at least one protruding member, at least one socket member and a flexible material, the protruding member being located at a first area of the flexible material, the socket member being located at a second area of the flexible material, the protruding member and the socket member being attached to the flexible material;   a band comprising an endless ring having a central hole therein, the band being partially enveloped by the flexible material when the protruding member and the socket member are engaged, the band being adapted to secure to a clump of synthetic or naturally growing hair; and   at least one animal, human or synthetic hair strand extending substantially unidirectionally from the snap fastener, the animal, human or synthetic hair strand being secured to the snap fastener.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the protruding member is made of rubber, plastic or metal. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the socket member is made of rubber, plastic or metal. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the hair extension apparatus comprises two snap fasteners. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the hair extension apparatus comprises three snap fasteners. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the snap fastener comprises two protruding members and two socket members. 
     
     
         7 . A hair extension apparatus comprising:
 a fastener comprising at least one hook fastener, at least one loop fastener, and a flexible material, the hook fastener being located at a first area of a flexible material, the loop fastener being located at a second area of the flexible material, the hook fastener and the loop fastener being attached to the flexible material;   a band comprising an endless ring having a central hole therein, the band being partially enveloped by the flexible material when the hook fastener and the loop fastener are engaged, the band being adapted to secure to a clump of synthetic or naturally growing hair; and   at least one animal, human or synthetic hair strand extending substantially unidirectionally from the fastener, the animal, human or synthetic hair strand being secured to the fastener.   
     
     
         8 . A method of attaching an extension of hair to hair growing naturally from a user's skin, comprising the steps of:
 determining the type of fastener and the amount of fasteners to be used;   securing the animal, human or synthetic hair strand to the fastener;   enveloping the fastener around a portion of a band;   engaging the fastener so the fastener is removably attached to the band; and   securing the band to a clump of synthetic or naturally growing hair.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8  wherein the fastener is a snap fastener. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8  wherein the fastener comprises at least one hook fastener, at least one loop fastener and a flexible material.
