Universal Communication System

Abstract

A computer program product stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that when executed on one or more computers cause the one or more computers to perform operations of providing a single client application including a plurality of communication types, the communication types comprising at least all of voice call, text messaging, and instant messaging and providing via the application a single history screen showing all recent communications of a client using the application including all communication types employed.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 : A computer program product, stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising instructions that when executed on one or more computers cause the one or more computers to perform operations, the operations comprising:
 providing a single client application including a plurality of communication types, the communication types comprising at least all of voice call, text messaging, and instant messaging; and   providing via the application a single history screen showing all recent communications of a client using the application including all communication types employed.   
     
     
         2 : The computer program product of  claim 1 , wherein the communication types additionally comprise one or more of social networking, fax, and file transfer. 
     
     
         3 : The computer program product of  claim 1 , further comprising permitting initiating a new communication with a recipient via the single history screen via a same communication type by selecting a corresponding entry in the single history screen. 
     
     
         4 : A unified communication system including a memory and a processor configured to execute a client application, the client application comprising:
 first logic configured to provide a client interface for accessing a plurality of communication types from a single, multi-threaded command window, the plurality comprising at least voice call, text messaging, and instant messaging; and   second logic configured to provide via the application a single history screen showing all recent communications of a client using the application including all communication types employed.   
     
     
         5 : The system of  claim 4 , wherein the plurality of communication types additionally comprise one or more of social networking, fax, and file transfer. 
     
     
         6 : The system of  claim 4 , further third logic permitting initiating a new communication with a recipient via the single history screen via a same communication type by selecting a corresponding entry in the single history screen. 
     
     
         7 : An apparatus, comprising:
 a processor configured to execute a single client application including a plurality of communication types including at least voice call, text messaging, and instant messaging; and   a memory configured to store and provide access to a single history screen showing all recent communications of a client using the application including all communication types employed.   
     
     
         8 : The apparatus of  claim 7 , wherein the plurality of communication types additionally includes one or more of social networking, fax, and file transfer. 
     
     
         9 : The apparatus of  claim 7  further comprising one of a mobile device, a handheld device, a laptop, and desktop computer. 
     
     
         10 : The apparatus of  claim 7  further comprising a client interface configured to access the communication types via a multi-threaded window. 
     
     
         11 : The apparatus of  claim 7  further comprising a translator configured to automatically translate a plurality of text messages. 
     
     
         12 : The apparatus of  claim 7  further comprising a client interface configured to access a plurality of applications, each including a plurality of contact information. 
     
     
         13 : The apparatus of  claim 12 , wherein the plurality of contact information is accessible from the client interface in a single contact list. 
     
     
         14 : The apparatus of  claim 7 , wherein the processor is configured to execute instructions to enable a voice over IP (VoIP) call. 
     
     
         15 : The apparatus of  claim 7 , further comprising a client interface permitting initiating a new communication with a recipient via the single history screen via a same communication type by selecting a corresponding entry in the single history screen.
