Abstract

Present invention discloses a short-shaft training golf club for practicing golf swing in a confined environment, and particularly a method for determining its shaft length and simulating the swing plane of a standard golf club.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A golf swing training apparatus for practicing golf swing in an indoor or outdoor confined environment, and a method for use by golfer, in which:
said golf swing training apparatus comprises of a short-shaft driver club, and a target line indicating device; said short-shaft driver club has a shaft inserted between a driver head and grip identical to the driver head and grip of standard driver club adopted by industry and regulated by proper authority; said target line indicating device is constructed of an elongated object containing or forming a visible straight line, and placed on ground as a reference marking for representing a ball-to-target line during practicing golf swing; said golfer positions the toe of golfer's shoe at a predetermined distance from said target line indicating device when golfer is at address position prior to initiating golf swing; said short-shaft driver club has a club length represented by a longitudinal distance between the butt end of said grip and the heel end of said driver head, and said club length is equal to said predetermined distance between said target line indicating device and said toe of golfer's shoe; said method for use provides means for setting up said short-shaft driver club at an incline angle between 40 and 45 degree at said address position, and simulating the swing plane of said standard driver club; and said method for use consists of the following steps: (1). place said target line indicating device on ground as said reference marking on ground; (2). use said short-shaft driver club as a measuring stick to position said toe of golfer's shoe at said club length of said short-shaft driver club away from said reference marking; (3). position the front thumb of golfer's hands at said grip in a substantially vertical eye-to-thumb line or chin-to-thumb line; (4). aim said driver head at said reference marking; (5). initiate a back swing to a check point where said short-shaft driver club is positioned in parallel to ground and in parallel to said reference marking.

2 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 1 , in which, said golfer sets up said short-shaft driver club at said 45 degree incline angle by positioning said front thumb of golfer's hands in said substantially vertical eye-to-thumb line, and aiming said heel end of said driver head at said reference marking.

3 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 1 , in which, said golfer sets up said short-shaft driver club at said 40 degree incline angle by positioning said front thumb of golfer's hands in said substantially vertical chin-to-thumb line, and aiming the toe end of said driver head at said reference marking.

4 . A golf swing training apparatus for practicing golf swing in an indoor or outdoor confined environment, and method for use by golfer, in which:
said golf swing training apparatus comprises of a short-shaft iron club, and a target line indicating device; said short-shaft iron club has a shaft inserted between an iron head and grip identical to the iron head and grip of standard iron club adopted by industry and regulated by proper authority; said target line indicating device is constructed of an elongated object containing or forming a visible straight line, and placed on ground as a reference marking for representing a ball-to-target line during practicing golf swing; said shaft is provided with a visible tag at a predetermined distance from the butt end of said grip, and said golfer positions the toe of golfer's shoe at said predetermined distance from said target line indicating device when golfer is at address position prior to initiating golf swing; said short-shaft iron club has a club length represented by a longitudinal distance between said butt end of said grip and the heel end of said iron head; said method for use provides means for setting up said short-shaft iron club at an incline angle between 55 and 50 degree at said address position, and simulating the swing plane of said standard iron club; and said method for use consists of the following steps: (1). place said target line indicating device on ground as said reference marking on ground; (2). use said short-shaft iron club as a measuring stick to position said toe of golfer's shoe at said butt end of said grip, and position said reference marking at said tag of said shaft (3). aim said heel end of said iron head in a substantially vertical line; (4). Aim said iron head at said reference marking; (5). initiate a back swing to a check point where said short-shaft iron club is positioned in parallel to ground and in parallel to said reference marking.

5 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 4 , in which, said golfer sets up said short-shaft iron club at said 55 degree incline angle by aiming said heel end of said iron head at said reference marking in a substantially vertical line.

6 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 4 , in which, said golfer sets up said short-shaft iron club at said 50 degree incline angle by aiming said heel end of said iron head in a substantially vertical line, and aiming the toe end of said iron head at said reference marking.

7 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 1 , in which, said club length of said short-shaft driver club is equal to 18 inch, and said predetermined distance between said target line indicating device and said toe of golfer's shoe is equal to 18 inch.

8 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 4 , in which, said club length of said short-shaft iron club is equal to 18 inch, said predetermined distance between said tag of said shaft and said butt end of said grip is equal to 12 inch, and the distance between said target line indicating device and said toe of golfer's shoe is equal to 12 inch.

9 . The golf swing training apparatus and method for use according to claim 1 or claim 4 , in which, said butt end of said grip is provided with a removable closure, and said target line indicating device is capable of being inserted into said shaft through said removable closure, and being stored within said shaft.
