Abstract

An apparatus comprises a first cylindrical segment comprising an outer surface, a hollowed interior cavity, a first end, a second end, a diameter, and a length. The outer surface comprises a groove about the diameter and extending along the length. The groove is configured for retaining a jewelry chain wound about the outer surface for at least a portion of the length. The first end and the second end each comprise a rim extending from the outer surface towards the hollowed interior cavity, wherein the hollowed interior cavity is operable for storing an excess length of the jewelry chain. A first locking mechanism is disposed on the rim of the first end. A second locking mechanism is disposed on the rim of the second end. The second locking mechanism is configured for mating with the first locking mechanism.

2 . The apparatus as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a support unit comprising a third locking mechanism, said third locking mechanism being configured for mating with said first locking mechanism for supporting said first cylindrical segment.

3 . The apparatus as recited in claim 1 , further comprising:
a second cylindrical segment comprising an outer surface, a hollowed interior cavity, a first end, a second end, a diameter, and a length, said outer surface comprising a groove about said diameter and extending along said length, said groove being configured for retaining a jewelry chain wound about said outer surface for at least a portion of said length, said first end and said second end each comprising a rim extending from said outer surface towards said hollowed interior cavity, wherein said hollowed interior cavity is operable for storing an excess length of the jewelry chain; a fourth locking mechanism being disposed on said rim of said first end, said fourth locking mechanism being configured for mating with said second locking mechanism; and a fifth locking mechanism being disposed on said rim of said second end, said fifth locking mechanism being configured for mating with said first locking mechanism, wherein said second cylindrical segment is joinable to said first cylindrical segment for extending a length for retaining a jewelry chain.

4 . The apparatus as recited in claim 3 , in which said groove of said first cylindrical segment and said second cylindrical segment further comprises a helical pattern.

5 . The apparatus as recited in claim 1 , in which said rim of said first end of said first cylindrical segment further comprises a slit being configured for retaining the jewelry chain.

6 . The apparatus as recited in claim 1 , in which said rim of said second end of said first cylindrical segment further comprises a slit being configured for retaining the jewelry chain.

7 . The apparatus as recited in claim 3 , in which said rim of said first end of said second cylindrical segment further comprises a slit being configured for retaining the jewelry chain.

8 . The apparatus as recited in claim 3 , in which said rim of said second end of said second cylindrical segment further comprises a slit being configured for retaining the jewelry chain.

9 . The apparatus as recited in claim 2 , in which said first locking mechanism is joinable to said third locking mechanism with a twisting motion.

10 . The apparatus as recited in claim 3 , in which said second locking mechanism is joinable to said fourth locking mechanism with a twisting motion

11 . The apparatus as recited in claim 1 , in which said outer surface of said first cylindrical segment further comprises a frictional material for mitigating slippage of the jewelry chain.

12 . The apparatus as recited in claim 3 , in which said outer surface of said second cylindrical segment further comprises a frictional material for mitigating slippage of the jewelry chain.

         13 . An apparatus comprising:
means for retaining a wound jewelry chain wound and for storing an excess length of the jewelry chain; means for locking mechanism being disposed a first end of said retaining means; and means for locking mechanism being disposed on a second end of said retaining means.

14 . The apparatus as recited in claim 13 , further comprising means for supporting said retaining means.

15 . The apparatus as recited in claim 13 , further comprising means for extending a length for retaining a jewelry chain.

         16 . An apparatus comprising:
a first cylindrical segment comprising an outer surface, a hollowed interior cavity, a first end, a second end, a diameter, and a length, said outer surface comprising a groove about said diameter and extending along said length, said groove comprising a helical pattern and being configured for retaining a jewelry chain wound about said outer surface for at least a portion of said length, said outer surface further comprising a frictional material for mitigating slippage of the jewelry chain, said first end and said second end each comprising a rim extending from said outer surface towards said hollowed interior cavity, said rim comprising a slit being configured for retaining the jewelry chain, wherein said hollowed interior cavity is operable for storing an excess length of the jewelry chain; a first locking mechanism being disposed on said rim of said first end; and a second locking mechanism being disposed on said rim of said second end, said second locking mechanism being configured for mating with said first locking mechanism.
