Methods and apparatus for controlling assets

Abstract

The present invention provides methods and apparatus relating to the creation and redemption of Compound Redeemable Instruments. Apparatus may a serve executing executable software to transmit information relating to Compound Redeemable Instruments and receive instructions to trade or redeem Compound Redeemable Instruments.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for providing an empirical model of a set of assets, the method comprising the steps of:
 defining with an automated processor an asset set comprising a quantification of multiple assets;   associating correlated quantities of the multiple assets in the asset set with disparate Compound Redeemable obligations;   reducing the quantification of multiple assets in the asset set based upon a change in the Compound Redeemable obligations;   creating a hypothetical model of the association of correlated quantities of the multiple assets in the asset set with disparate Compound Redeemable obligations; and   calculating coefficients for the hypothetical model according to an automated analysis of assets and obligations.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  additionally comprising the steps of:
 transmitting via a digital communications network, data descriptive of a set of Compound Redeemable Obligations associated with Compound Redeemable Instruments, wherein the Compound Redeemable Instruments comprise multiple disparate classes of Financial Instruments; and 
 grouping two or more of the Compound Redeemable Instruments comprising multiple disparate classes into an Instrument Set comprising the Compound Redeemable Instruments. 
 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2  additionally comprising the steps of:
 transmitting via the digital communications network data descriptive of quantifiable assets; 
 grouping one or more of the quantifiable assets into an Asset Set comprising Exchangeable Assets; 
 associating the Instrument Set with the Asset Set; and 
 transmiting a market valuation comprising terms of redemption for Instrument Sets in exchange for Asset Sets. 
 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3  additionally comprising the step of:
 transmitting a price for the Instrument Set, wherein the price comprises an amount of a currency that may be exchanged for the Instrument Set. 
 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4  additionally comprising the steps of:
 tracking and transmitting a price for the Asset Set, wherein the price comprises an amount of currency to exchange per Asset Set. 
 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5  wherein:
 the assets comprising the Asset Set enhance the liquidity of the Financial Instruments comprising the Instrument Set. 
 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Instrument Set comprises at least one Financial Instrument that is equity and at least one other Financial Instrument, wherein the at least one Financial Instrument that is equity and at least one other Financial Instrument are jointly redeemable for a predetermined quantity of one or more specified Exchangeable Assets comprising the Asset Set. 
 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7  wherein:
 the at least one Financial Instrument that is equity comprises a unit of equity and the at least one other Financial Instrument comprises a unit of equity of a different class. 
 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Instrument Set comprises at least one Financial Instrument that is not equity and at least one other Financial Instrument, wherein the at least one Financial Instrument that is not equity and at the least one other Financial Instrument are jointly redeemable for a predetermined quantity of one or more specified Exchangeable Assets comprising the Asset Set. 
 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Exchangeable Assets comprise one or more of cash or currency equivalents. 
 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Exchangeable Assets comprise one or more assets of other than cash or currency equivalents. 
 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Asset Set comprises one or more commodity items. 
 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Asset Set comprises e Ordinary Redeemable Instruments comprise one or more Financial Instruments that are not traded on an exchange. 
 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Financial Instruments are issued by a publicly registered open end fund or a mutual fund. 
 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Financial Instruments are issued by a special purpose vehicle or investment fund. 
 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 6  wherein:
 the Financial Instruments comprise one or more Financial Instruments that are traded on an exchange. 
 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 14  wherein:
 the Financial Instruments comprise one or more of: exchange traded fund shares, exchange traded products and exchange traded notes.
