Decorative accessory for clothing, shoes, hair, or other articles

Abstract

A fashion accessory is provided, wherein the accessory comprises a chenille or other fabric design of a sports team, fictional character, university logo, or other aesthetic design, a supportive backing, and a fastener for removably attaching the accessory to an article, such as a shoe, dog collar, bracelet, necklace, hat, belt buckle, ponytail, clothing, or other portable item. The accessory is inexpensive and reusable, such that it can be collected, traded, and shared between friends and can be reused without damaging the article to which it is attached or the accessory itself.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A decorative accessory comprising:
 a semi-rigid backing material,   a design portion affixed to said backing material, and   a fastener,   wherein, said fastener is affixed to said backing material.   
     
     
         2 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said design portion comprises an embroidery design. 
     
     
         3 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said design portion comprises a chenille design. 
     
     
         4 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener comprises a strap with a male snap element and a female snap element integrally connected thereto, wherein said male snap element and said female snap element engage one another to form a closed loop in said strap. 
     
     
         5 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener comprises a flexible material formed in a closed loop. 
     
     
         6 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener comprises a strap with a male end and a female end, wherein said male end includes a hook material and said female end includes a loop material such that the male end and female end engage one another to form a closed loop when the hook material contacts the loop material. 
     
     
         7 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener comprises a strap, said strap including a buckle. 
     
     
         8 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener comprises a clip, said clip including a hinge and a securing mechanism. 
     
     
         9 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener is affixed to said backing material by sewing. 
     
     
         10 . The decorative accessory of  claim 1 , wherein said fastener is affixed to said backing material by adhesive.
