Abstract
The number of times of designation with respect to a position on a map is counted, and the number of times of designation is managed in association with the position and the map. If the number of times of designation with respect to a position of interest on the map exceeds a threshold value, a position that is managed in association with a large-area map including an area shown by the map is specified, and an object in the specified position on the large-area map is highlighted on the large-area map.

25 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
a display control unit configured to control a display unit to display, on a map image at a first scale designated, an object which is associated with the first scale, wherein the object is displayed at a position on the map image based on first position information indicating a location of the object; and a storage unit configured to store, into a memory, second position information indicating a location at which a capturing unit of the information processing apparatus has captured, wherein in a case where the display control unit controls the display unit to display a map image at a second scale that shows a larger area than the map image at the first scale, the display control unit controls the display unit to display on the map image at the second scale an object which indicates the location at which the capturing unit has captured and is specified by the first position information and the second position information.

The apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein the display control unit is configured to control the display unit to display the object which indicates the location at which the capturing unit has captured, based on objects existing at locations near the location indicated by the second position information among objects corresponding to a plurality of pieces of the first position information.
27 . The apparatus according to claim 25 , further comprising an identification unit configured to identify a user of the information processing apparatus,
wherein the storage unit is configured to store identification information of the user into the memory, and the object displayed on the map image is different for each identification information.

The apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein in a case where the number of times that the second position information is stored into the memory exceeds a threshold, the display control unit controls the display unit to display on the map image at the second scale the object which indicates the location at which the capturing unit has captured.
29 . The apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein the display control unit is configured to control the display unit to display an object that is set in advance as belonging to a category relating to the object which indicates the location at which the capturing unit has captured.
30 . The apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein each object is a place name.
31 . The apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein each object is a landmark name.
32 . The apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein the first position information and the second position information are each expressed by a combination of a latitude and a longitude.
33 . The apparatus according to claim 25 , further comprising an acquisition unit configured to acquire the map image to be displayed on the display unit from an external apparatus via a network.
34 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
a display control unit configured to control a display unit to display, on a map image at a first scale designated, an object which is associated with the first scale, wherein the object is displayed at a position on the map image based on first position information indicating a location of the object; and a storage unit configured to store, into a memory, second position information indicating a location at which the information processing apparatus performs an event, wherein in a case where the display control unit controls the display unit to display a map image at a second scale that shows a larger area than the map image at the first scale, the display control unit controls the display unit to display on the map image at the second scale an object which indicates the location at which the information processing apparatus performs the event and is specified by the first position information and the second position information.
35 . An information processing method, comprising:
controlling a display unit to display, on a map image at a first scale designated, an object which is associated with the first scale, wherein the object is displayed at a position on the map image based on first position information indicating a location of the object; and storing, into a memory, second position information indicating a location at which a capturing unit has captured, wherein in a case where the display unit is controlled to display a map image at a second scale that shows a larger area than the map image at the first scale, the display unit is controlled to display on the map image at the second scale an object which indicates the location at which the capturing unit has captured and is specified by the first position information and the second position information.
36 . An information processing method, comprising:
controlling a display unit to display, on a map image at a first scale designated, an object which is associated with the first scale, wherein the object is displayed at a position on the map image based on first position information indicating a location of the object; and storing, into a memory, second position information indicating a location at which an event is performed, wherein in a case where the display unit is controlled to display a map image at a second scale that shows a larger area than the map image at the first scale, the display unit is controlled to display on the map image at the second scale an object which indicates the location at which the event is performed and is specified by the first position information and the second position information.
37 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as:
a display control unit configured to control a display unit to display, on a map image at a first scale designated, an object which is associated with the first scale, wherein the object is displayed at a position on the map image based on first position information indicating a location of the object; and a storage unit configured to store, into a memory, second position information indicating a location at which a capturing unit has captured, wherein in a case where the display control unit controls the display unit to display a map image at a second scale that shows a larger area than the map image at the first scale, the display control unit controls the display unit to display on the map image at the second scale an object which indicates the location at which the capturing unit has captured and is specified by the first position information and the second position information.
38 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as:
