Abstract

A method for data interchange includes summing up data associated with an electronic document to provide summed up data, representing the summed up data as one or more bar codes, and returning the one or more bar codes for display and data capture via a bar code scan from either a video display or a printed version of the one or more bar codes. The electronic document may be of any number of formats. The summing up may include taking data from multiple information fields to create the summed up data. The data may include data tags or a step of adding data tags to the data to assist in data interchange may be performed.

         15 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having program instructions stored thereon, wherein the program instructions are executable by a first computing system to cause the first computing system to perform operations comprising:
 receiving data from a data source;   generating a first set of tagged data that includes the data and a data tag, wherein the data tag identifies a property of the data; and   transferring the first set of tagged data to a first radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.   
     
     
         16 . The computer readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the data tag is an extensible markup language (XML) tag. 
     
     
         17 . The computer readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 reading a second set of tagged data from a second RFID tag;   selecting a field in a form based on a data tag included in the second set of tagged data; and   populating the field with data included in the second set of tagged data.   
     
     
         18 . The computer readable medium of  claim 17 , wherein the data tag included in the second set of tagged data specifies an identifier of the field. 
     
     
         19 . The computer readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the receiving includes:
 scanning one or more barcodes encoding the data from a document.   
     
     
         20 . The computer readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the receiving includes:
 reading data from one or more RFID tags.   
     
     
         21 . The computer readable medium of  claim 20 , wherein the read data includes a second set of tagged data, and wherein the generating includes:
 modifying the second set of tagged data to generate the first set of tagged data.   
     
     
         22 . A method, comprising:
 a first computer system communicating with a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag that stores first data generated by a second computer system;   the first computer system reading the first data and a first data tag from the RFID tag, wherein the first data tag identifies a data type of the first data; and   based on the identified data type, the first computer system populating a data field in a form with the first data.   
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the first data tag is encoded using extensible markup language (XML). 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 22 , further comprising:
 the first computer system transferring second data and a second data tag to the RFID tag.   
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the form is a web page of a web site. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the RFID tag is a read-write type of RFID chip. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the communicating includes the first computer system generating radio frequency (RF) energy to power the RFID tag. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the RFID tag is an active type RFID chip that includes a power source. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the RFID tag is printed on a material configured to disable the RFID tag. 
     
     
         30 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having program instructions stored thereon, wherein the program instructions are executable by a computing system to cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:
 retrieving, from a first radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, a first set of tagged data including data and a data tag, wherein the data tag identifies a property of the data;   modifying the data in the first set of tagged data to produce a second set of tagged data; and   storing the second set of tagged data in a second RFID tag.   
     
     
         31 . The computer readable medium of  claim 30 , wherein the data tag is an extensible markup language (XML) tag. 
     
     
         32 . The computer readable medium of  claim 30 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 presenting content of the first set of tagged data on a display of the computing system.   
     
     
         33 . The computer readable medium of  claim 30 , wherein the modifying includes:
 modifying the data tag to identify a property of the modified data.   
     
     
         34 . The computer readable medium of  claim 30 , wherein the second RFID tag is the first RFID tag.
