Method of packing piece goods and device for its implementation

Abstract

A device for packaging a good automatically. The device having a manipulator having mechanically controlled plates for holding a packaging material sheet and the good to be packaged, the plates movable from an open loading position to a closed packaging position. The plates are additionally rotatable to further allow both enveloping and twisting of the packaging material about the good for packaging. As such, the device produces a packaged product having at least one end twisted closed.

1 ) A device for packaging goods comprising:
 a base;   a mechanism for feeding and cutting a packaging material, attached to the base, the mechanism comprising:
 a bracket holding a quantity of packaging material; 
 a mechanically driven feeder having a mechanical drive and a layer of the packaging material within the feeder; 
 a leveling unit providing a leveling of a sheet of the packaging material; and 
 a cutter configured to cut the sheet of the packaging material; 
   a mechanism for forming a bundle of goods attached to the base, the sheet of packaging material in communication with the mechanism, the mechanism comprising:
 a manipulator comprising two gripping plates, the gripping plates configured to hold a good for packaging therebetween when the good is placed over the sheet of the packaging material, the two gripping plates mounted on a linear guide for movement of the plates, the manipulator having an open position with the gripping plates apart from each other, and a closed position having the gripping plates holding at least the packaging material between them, the open position being for placing the sheet of the packaging material and the good for packing within the mechanism, the closed position being for packaging the good; 
 a clamp positioned on an edge of the manipulator, the clamp holding the sheet of the packaging material after the gripping plates are closed together in the closed position; 
 a mechanical drive in communication with the gripping plates, the mechanical drive configured move the manipulator from the open position to the closed position, and to rotate the gripping plates when in the closed position, causing the sheet of packaging to be twisted about itself and the good for packaging. 
   
     
     
         2 ) The device for packaging goods of  claim 1  wherein the manipulator is movable in three dimensions using a second mechanical drive in communication with the gripping plates. 
     
     
         3 ) The device for packaging goods of  claim 1  wherein the good for packaging is held between the gripping plates in the closed position. 
     
     
         4 ) The device for packaging goods of  claim 1  wherein the bracket for the packing material comprises two plates each with a scalloped line, a roll of the packing material is mounted on the two plates. 
     
     
         5 ) The device for packaging goods of  claim 1  wherein the feeder comprises a cylindrical shaft, the ends of the shaft are secured in bearing assemblies to the mechanism for feeding and cutting a packaging material, allowing the shaft to rotate freely around its axis. The shaft connected to the mechanical drive. 
     
     
         6 ) A method of packaging a product using the device for packaging goods of  claim 1  comprising:
 bringing the plates of the manipulator to the open position by the mechanical drive; 
 feeding the sheet of the packaging material and laying the sheet over the gripping plates in the open position, the feeding performed by the feeder, and the sheet cut by the cutter from a roll of the packaging material; 
 placing the good for packaging over the sheet of packaging material and between the gripping plates in the open position; 
 pressing the good down into a space between the gripping plates; 
 bringing the gripping plates to the closed position holding the packaging material between them, the bringing of the gripping plates to the closed position enveloping the good to be packaged; 
 rotating the gripping plates in the closed position using the mechanical drive, the rotating being in a plane along which the package is formed; 
 feeding a top end of the package to the clamp, the clamp gripping the packaging sheet; and 
 discharging the packaged good. 
 
     
     
         7 ) The method of  claim 5  wherein the good for packaging is held between the gripping plates in the closed position, and wherein the step of rotating the gripping plates occurs when the packaging sheet is held by the clamp, such that the gripping plates rotate relative to the clamp.
