Abstract
Included are embodiments for determining sort order. At least one embodiment of a method includes determining a plurality of search results associated with at least one search criteria. Some embodiments of a method include determining a first distance between at least one of the search results and a home page associated with the at least one search result and determining a display order for the plurality of search results.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An apparatus comprising:
a processor; and memory coupled to the processor, the memory comprising instructions that cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising:
determining a distance based on a number of pages between a web page of a first search result and a home page of the first search result;
determining an order based on the distance; and
causing a user interface to display results comprising the first search result and a second search result in the order, the results further comprising an indication of the distance.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:
determining a number of other pages that the web page contains links to, wherein the order is further based on the number.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , the operations further comprising,
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result; and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display the home page and an option to access the web page.
4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result; and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display the home page and an option to access the results.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display the web page and an option to access the home page.
6 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein causing the user interface to display the web page and the option comprises causing the user interface to display the web page in a first frame and the option in a second frame.
7 . The apparatus of claim 5 , the operations further comprising:
detecting a second input at the user interface, the second input selecting the option; and in response to the second input, causing the user interface to display the home page.
8 . A method comprising:
determining a distance based on a number of pages between a web page of a first search result and a home page of the first search result; determining an order based on the distance; and causing a user interface to display results comprising the first search result and a second search result in the order, the results further comprising an indication of the distance.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display the web page and an option to access the home page.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein causing the user interface to display the web page and the option comprises causing the user interface to display the web page in a first window and the option in a second window.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein causing the user interface to display the web page and the option comprises causing the user interface to display the web page in a first frame and the option in a second frame.
12 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
detecting a second input at the user interface, the second input selecting the option; and in response to the second input, causing the user interface to display the home page.
13 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising,
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result; and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display the home page and an option to access the web page.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein causing the user interface to display the home page and the option comprises causing the user interface to display the home page in a first window and the option in a second window.
15 . The method of claim 9 , wherein causing the user interface to display the home page and the option comprises causing the user interface to display the home page in a first frame and the option in a second frame.
16 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising,
detecting a second input at the user interface, the second input selecting the option; and in response to the second input, causing the user interface to display the home page.
17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that is not a propagating signal, the computer-readable medium comprising instructions that cause a processor to effectuate operations comprising:
determining a distance based on a number of pages between a web page of a first search result and a home page of the first search result; determining an order based on the distance; and causing a user interface to display results comprising the first search result and a second search result in the order, the results further comprising an indication of the distance.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , the operations further comprising:
determining a number of other pages that the web page contains links to, wherein the order is further based on the number.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , the operations further comprising,
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result; and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display at least one of the web page or the home page; and causing the user interface to display an option to access at least one of the home page, the web page, or the results.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , the operations further comprising,
detecting an input at the user interface, the input selecting the first search result; and in response to the input, causing the user interface to display an option to access at least one of the home page, the web page, or the results.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
