Abstract
Methods are provided for displaying image results responsive to a search query. In addition to displaying responsive results for a query, responsive results are also provided for related queries. The results are ordered along a plurality of display axes, including at least one axis corresponding to the ordering of the various search queries. The results can be displayed in an aligned or non-aligned manner. The results can then be translated along one or more of the display axes to allow a user to browse the various results.

21 . A computing device, comprising:
at least one processor; at least one display device; and at least one memory storing computer-readable instructions that when executed by the at least one processor cause the computing device to perform a method, the method comprising:
receiving a first search query;
displaying the first search query and a first set of results ordered along a first axis within a viewable area of the display device;
receiving a selection of a result of the first set of results; and
in response to receiving the selected result, translating the viewable area along a second axis to display a second set of results within the viewable area of the display device, wherein the second set of results are displayed in a ranked order of relevance based on the selected result, and wherein each successive result of the second set of results is displayed with decreasing size along the second axis based on decreasing relevance to the selected result.
22 . The computing device of claim 21 , wherein the second axis is a depth axis that is substantially orthogonal to the first axis.
23 . The computing device of claim 21 , wherein the first axis is a vertical axis that is substantially orthogonal to the second axis.
24 . The computing device of claim 21 , wherein translating the viewable area along the second axis continues until an indication to stop the translating is received.
25 . The computing device of claim 24 , wherein the indication to stop translating the viewable area along the second axis is received as a gesture on a touch-enabled display device.
26 . The computing device of claim 21 , further comprising:
receiving a selection of a second result of the second set of results; and in response to receiving the second selected result, discontinuing translating the viewable area along the second axis.
27 . The computing device of claim 21 , further comprising:
displaying at least a third search query and a third set of results adjacent to the first query and the first set of results along a third axis, wherein the third search query is related to the first search query, and wherein the third set of results is ordered along the first axis.
28 . The computing device of claim 27 , further comprising:
receiving a selection of a result of the third set of results; automatically determining a fourth search query based on the selected result; and displaying the fourth search query and a fourth set of results adjacent to the third search query and the third set of results along the third axis, wherein the fourth search query was not previously displayed, and wherein the fourth set of results is ordered along the first axis.
29 . The computing device of claim 21 , further comprising providing at least three options for translating the viewable area, comprising:
a first option for translating the viewable area along the first axis; a second option for translating the viewable area along the second axis, wherein the second axis is substantially orthogonal to the first axis; and a third option for translating the viewable area along a third axis, wherein the third axis is substantially orthogonal to the first axis and the second axis.
30 . The computing device of claim 29 , further comprising:
receiving an indication of the first option; and in response to receiving the indication of the first option, discontinuing translating of the viewable area along the second axis and starting translating of the viewable area along the first axis.
31 . The computing device of claim 29 , wherein the first axis is a vertical axis, the second axis is a depth axis, and the third axis is a horizontal axis.
32 . The computing device of claim 21 , wherein translating the viewable area along the second axis comprises progressively enlarging one or more results as the one or more results are translated toward a central portion of the viewable area.
33 . A method implemented on a computing device having at least one processor and at least one display device, the method comprising:
receiving a first search query; displaying the first search query and a first set of results ordered along a first axis within a viewable area of the display device; receiving a selection of a result of the first set of results; and in response to receiving the selected result, translating the viewable area along a second axis to display a second set of results within the viewable area of the display device, wherein the second set of results are displayed in a ranked order of relevance based on the selected result, and wherein each successive result of the second set of results is displayed with decreasing size along the second axis based on decreasing relevance to the selected result.
34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the second axis is a depth axis that is substantially orthogonal to the first axis.
35 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the first axis is a vertical axis that is substantially orthogonal to the second axis.
36 . The method of claim 33 , wherein translating the viewable area along the second axis continues until an indication to stop the translating is received.
37 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the indication to stop translating the viewable area along the second axis is received as a gesture on a touch-enabled display device.
38 . The method of claim 33 , further comprising:
receiving a selection of a second result of the second set of results; and in response to receiving the second selected result, discontinuing translating the viewable area along the second axis.
39 . A computing device having a processor and memory with computer-readable instructions stored thereon that when executed by the processor cause the computing device to perform a method, the method comprising:
receiving a first search query; displaying the first search query and a first set of results ordered along a first axis within a viewable area of the display device; receiving a selection of a result of the first set of results; and in response to receiving the selected result, translating the viewable area along a second axis to display a second set of results within the viewable area of the display device, wherein the second set of results are displayed in a ranked order of relevance based on the selected result, and wherein each successive result of the second set of results is displayed with decreasing size along the second axis based on decreasing relevance to the selected result.
40 . The computing device of claim 39 , further comprising:
