Abstract

An easy-to-install, low cost hydraulic lift system and method for installation on a trailer with a removable gooseneck. The device reduces the number of steps required to manually connect and disconnect a trailer from an RGN thereby saving time and labor.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A kit for retrofitting a hydraulic lift system onto a trailer; comprising:
 a) at least one hydraulic cylinder rated front about 20-50 tons;   b) a hydraulic pump for pumping hydraulic fluid to and from the at least one cylinder;

         2 . The kit as in claim 1 further comprising a hydraulic fluid receptacle.

         3 . The kit as in claim 2 further comprising a switch or other means to activate the hydraulic pump.

         4 . The kit as in claim 3 further comprising connection lines and wires to interconnect the at least one cylinder with, the pump, fluid receptacle and switch or other means to activate the hydraulic pump.

         5 . The kit as in claim 4 further comprising one or more mounting brackets to mount the at least one hydraulic cylinder to the trailer.

         6 . The kit as in claim 5 further comprising a set of installation instructions.

         7 . The kit as in claim 6 wherein the at least one hydraulic cylinder is rated at 35 tons.

         8 . The kit as in claim 7 wherein the at least one hydraulic cylinder is two hydraulic cylinders.

         9 . The kit as claim 8 wherein the trailer is a lowboy trailer adaptable to connect with a reversible gooseneck and wherein said cylinders are adaptable to be mounted beneath the deck of the lowboy trailer.

         10 . The kit as in claim 9 wherein the cylinders are adaptable to be mounted to the front end of the inner frame members of the trailer.

         11 . The kit as in claim 10 wherein the cylinders have a top and bottom, and an arm member being actuable to extend out front the bottom of the cylinders, to make contact with the surface of the ground to lift the trailer, and wherein the arm member does not contact the ground prior to actuation.

         12 . A kit for retrofitting a hydraulic lift system onto a lowboy trailer adaptable to connect with a reversible gooseneck, comprising:
 a. two hydraulic cylinders rated from 20 to 50 tons;   b. a hydraulic pump for pumping hydraulic fluid to and from the cylinders;   c. a hydraulic fluid receptacle;   d. a switch or other means to activate the hydraulic pump;   e. connection lines and wires;
       wherein the cylinders are adaptable to be mounted beneath the deck toward the front end of inner frame members of the trailer.

         13 . The kit of claim 12 wherein the cylinders have a top and bottom, and an arm member being actuable to extend out from the bottom of the cylinders to make contact with the surface of the ground to lift the trailer, and wherein the arm member does not contact the ground prior to actuation.

         14 . The kit of claim 13 wherein the cylinders are rated at 35 tons.
