Toothbrush adapted to prevent the formation of dental plaque and tartar

Abstract

The present invention relates to a toothbrush for preventing the formation of dental plaque and tartar. The toothbrush comprises a supporting area for bristles connected to a handle which extends along a longitudinal axis. Such a handle comprises a first side and a second side, which are opposite to each other. The first side defines a first recessed portion which extends from the supporting area. The second side defines a further recessed portion which is at least partially longitudinally staggered with respect to the first recessed portion of the first side of the handle.

1 ) Toothbrush adapted to prevent the formation of dental plaque and tartar, comprising a supporting area for bristles connected to a handle that defines a rectilinear longitudinal extension axis, said handle comprising a first side and a second side opposite each other, wherein said first side defines a first recessed portion that extends from said supporting area, characterised in that said second side of said handle defines a second recessed portion for positioning of said toothbrush on the inner side of the lower dental arch. 
     
     
         2 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1 , wherein said second portion is completely staggered, in longitudinal direction, with respect to said first recessed portion. 
     
     
         3 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1 , wherein said second portion is only partly staggered, in longitudinal direction, with respect to said first recessed portion. 
     
     
         4 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1  wherein said first side defines a further rectilinear portion between said first recessed portion and a free end of said handle. 
     
     
         5 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1 , wherein said supporting area comprises a first side and a second side opposite each other and substantially parallel to said longitudinal axis. 
     
     
         6 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 5 , wherein said first side of said supporting area is aligned with said further rectilinear portion of said first side of said handle or wherein said first side of said supporting area is misaligned with said second rectilinear portion of said first side. 
     
     
         7 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 5 , wherein said second portion extends between a first rectilinear section and a second rectilinear section of said second side of said handle, said second side of said supporting area being aligned with said rectilinear sections of said second side of said handle. 
     
     
         8 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1 , wherein said second recessed portion extends for a longitudinal section having an extension between 5 and 20 mm. 
     
     
         9 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1 , wherein said second recessed portion has a concave profile with an inflection point in position proximal to said longitudinal axis of said handle. 
     
     
         10 ) Toothbrush according to  claim 1 , wherein said toothbrush is made of a material comprising reinforcing fibres.
