Media Production Application
Abstract
Some embodiments provide a media production application. The application receives a script of a media project and parses the script to identify (i) story sections of the media project and (ii) characters in the media project. The application automatically creates data structures for the story sections and the characters, and associations between the story sections and the characters. The application receives several different types of data related to production of a media project and automatically schedules production activities for the media project based on the different types of data. For each location at which one or more story sections will be filmed, the application receives a photo of the location. The application displays a graphical outline of the media project in which each story section is represented by a thumbnail of the photo of the location at which the story section will be filmed.
Claims

6 . For a portable device, a non-transitory machine readable medium storing an application for execution by at least one processing unit of the portable device, the application comprising sets of instructions for:
appending geolocation metadata to an image captured by the portable device; receiving a location name identifying a media production location at which the image was captured; appending the location name to the image; and associating the geolocation metadata with the media production location.
7 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the application further comprises a set of instructions for transferring the image with the appended data to a primary production application.
8 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the primary production application is for scheduling production activities of a media project using the images and appended data.
9 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the application further comprises a set of instructions for using the geolocation coordinates to automatically retrieve information about the media production location.
10 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the retrieved information comprises at least one of fire and rescue information, food information, and hotel information.
11 - 18 . (canceled)
19 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the media production location is one of a plurality of media production locations for a media project, wherein the primary production application is further for:
receiving a plurality of additional data related to production of the media project, the additional data including (i) a plurality of story sections and (ii) a media production location at which each of the story sections will be filmed; for each media production location at which one or more story section will be filmed, receiving an image of the location captured by the portable device; and displaying a graphical outline of the media project in which each story section is represented by a thumbnail of the photo of the location at which the story section will be filmed.
20 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 19 , wherein each thumbnail is a selectable item.
21 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the selectable items are moveable by a user to rearrange sections of the media project.
22 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the graphical outline further includes, for each story section, information about the filming of the story section.
23 - 26 . (canceled)
27 . For an application executing on a portable device, a method comprising:
appending geolocation metadata to an image captured by the portable device; receiving a location name identifying a media production location at which the image was captured; appending the location name to the image; and associating the geolocation metadata with the media production location.
28 . The method of claim 27 further comprising transferring the image with the appended data to a primary production application.
29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the primary production application is for scheduling production activities of a media project using the images and appended data.
30 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the media production location is one of a plurality of media production locations for a media project, wherein the primary production application is for:
receiving a plurality of additional data related to production of the media project, the additional data including (i) a plurality of story sections and (ii) a media production location at which each of the story sections will be filmed; for each media production location at which one or more story section will be filmed, receiving an image of the location captured by the portable device; and displaying a graphical outline of the media project in which each story section is represented by a thumbnail of the photo of the location at which the story section will be filmed.
31 . The method of claim 27 further comprising using the geolocation coordinates to automatically retrieve information about the media production location.
32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the retrieved information comprises at least one of fire and rescue information, food information, and hotel information.
33 . A portable device comprising:
a set of processing units; and a non-transitory machine readable medium storing an application for execution by at least one processing unit of the portable device, the application comprising sets of instructions for:
appending geolocation metadata to an image captured by the portable device;
receiving a location name identifying a media production location at which the image was captured;
appending the location name to the image; and
associating the geolocation metadata with the media production location.
34 . The portable device of claim 33 , wherein the application further comprises a set of instructions for transferring the image with the appended data to a primary production application.
35 . The portable device of claim 34 , wherein the primary production application is for scheduling production activities of a media project using the images and appended data.
36 . The portable device of claim 33 , wherein the application further comprises a set of instructions for using the geolocation coordinates to automatically retrieve information about the media production location.
37 . The portable device of claim 36 , wherein the retrieved information comprises at least one of fire and rescue information, food information, and hotel information.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
