Image display device and driving method thereof
Abstract
A novel driving method is provided in which source line inverting drive or dot inverting drive is performed for a case of driving a plurality of source lines by one D/A converter circuit in a source signal line driver circuit of an active matrix image display drive that corresponds to digital image signal input. In a first driving method of the present invention, two systems of grey-scale electric power supply lines are supplied to a source signal line driver circuit in order to obtain output having differing polarities from a D/A converter circuit, switches for connecting to the two systems of grey-scale electric power supply lines are prepared in each D/A converter circuit, the grey-scale electric power supply lines connected to each D/A converter circuit are switched in accordance with a control signal input to the switches, and source line inverting drive or dot inverting drive are performed.

2 . A display device comprising:
a first substrate; a pixel portion having a light emitting element over the first substrate; a second substrate over the pixel portion; a first sealing material between the first substrate and the second substrate, the first sealing material surrounding the pixel portion; and a second sealing material provided outside of the first sealing material, wherein a side surface of the second substrate has a first region being in contact with the second sealing material.
3 . The display device according to claim 2 , wherein the first substrate is a glass substrate.
4 . The display device according to claim 2 , wherein the second substrate comprises one of glass, aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, polyvinyl fluoride, Mylar, polyester, and acryl.
5 . An electronic equipment comprising:
the display device according to claim 2 ; and at least one of an operation switch, a battery, and a speaker.
6 . A display device comprising:
a first substrate; a pixel portion having a light emitting element over the first substrate; a driver circuit over the first substrate, the driver circuit being configured to supply an analog image signal to the pixel portion; a second substrate over the pixel portion and the driver circuit; a first sealing material between the first substrate and the second substrate, the first sealing material surrounding the pixel portion and the driver circuit; and a second sealing material provided outside of the first sealing material, wherein a side surface of the second substrate has a first region being in contact with the second sealing material and a second region not being in contact with the second sealing material.
7 . The display device according to claim 6 , wherein the first substrate is a glass substrate.
8 . The display device according to claim 6 , wherein the second substrate comprises one of glass, aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, polyvinyl fluoride, Mylar, polyester, and acryl.
9 . The display device according to claim 6 , wherein the driver circuit comprises a D/A converter circuit, a shift register, and a latch circuit.
10 . The display device according to claim 6 , further comprising an FPC connected to the driver circuit.
11 . An electronic equipment comprising:
the display device according to claim 6 ; and at least one of an operation switch, a battery, and a speaker.
12 . A display device comprising:
a first substrate; a pixel portion having a light emitting element over the first substrate; a second substrate over the pixel portion; a first sealing material between the first substrate and the second substrate, the first sealing material surrounding the pixel portion; a second sealing material formed outside of the first sealing material; and a wiring electrically connected to the light emitting element, the wiring extending between the first sealing material and the first substrate, wherein an end of the wiring is covered with the second sealing material, and wherein a side surface of the second substrate has a first region being in contact with the second sealing material and a second region not being in contact with the second sealing material.
13 . The display device according to claim 12 , wherein the first substrate is a glass substrate.
14 . The display device according to claim 12 , wherein the second substrate comprises one of glass, aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, polyvinyl fluoride, Mylar, polyester, and acryl.
15 . The display device according to claim 12 , further comprising an FPC connected to the wiring.
16 . The display device according to claim 12 , wherein the wiring is a power supply line.
17 . An electronic equipment comprising:
the display device according to claim 12 ; and at least one of an operation switch, a battery, and a speaker.
18 . A display device comprising:
a first substrate; a pixel portion having a light emitting element over the first substrate; a driver circuit over the first substrate, the driver circuit being configured to supply an analog image signal to the pixel portion; a second substrate over the pixel portion and the driver circuit; a first sealing material between the first substrate and the second substrate, the first sealing material surrounding the pixel portion and the driver circuit; a second sealing material formed outside of the first sealing material; and a wiring electrically connected to the light emitting element, the wiring extending between the first sealing material and the first substrate, wherein an end of the wiring is covered with the second sealing material, and wherein a side surface of the second substrate has a first region being in contact with the second sealing material and a second region not being in contact with the second sealing material.
19 . The display device according to claim 18 , wherein the first substrate is a glass substrate.
20 . The display device according to claim 18 , wherein the second substrate comprises one of glass, aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, polyvinyl fluoride, Mylar, polyester, and acryl.
21 . The display device according to claim 18 , wherein the driver circuit comprises a D/A converter circuit, a shift register, and a latch circuit.
22 . The display device according to claim 18 , wherein the wiring is a power supply line.
23 . The display device according to claim 18 , further comprising an FPC connected to the wiring.
24 . An electronic equipment comprising:
