Pizza packaging

Abstract

A packaging ( 2 and 36 ) for baked, ready-to-eat pizza, including a lower part ( 4 ) or bottom upon which the pizza may be supported, and an upper part ( 6 ) or a lid for protecting the top side of the pizza. The packaging ( 2 and 36 ) includes a bag of plastic material wherein the lower and upper parts ( 4 and 6 ) comprises a plastic film which at opposite side edges and one end edge are interconnected by welds. The bag ( 2 and 36 ) has an opening at a front side edge with a closure flap ( 16 ) formed from an extended part of the lower part ( 4 ). the packaging includes a lower support member of a plate-shaped rigid material, for example of fiber-cardboard or plastic. The lower support is either disposed at the outer side or at the inner side of the lower part and fastened to the lower part.

1 . A packaging for containing and transporting previously baked, ready to eat pizza, comprising a lower support for supporting the previously baked pizza, a bag for containing the previously baked pizza comprising an upper plastic film for protecting a top side of the pizza and a lower plastic film for protecting a lower side of the pizza wherein the lower and upper plastic films are joined at opposite side edges and at one end, the bag having an opening at another end opposite the one end for receiving the pizza in the bag, a closure flap disposed at an extension of the lower plastic film for closing the opening after the pizza has been placed within the bag after being baked, the support being a rigid material disposed at an outer side or at an inner side of the lower plastic film, including a disc with a center surface of about a size of the pizza, an annular edge part sloping upwardly beyond the pizza to retain the pizza in a centered position on the disc, the upper plastic film comprising a metal coating disposed over the disc and for keeping the baked pizza warm, a tearing line disposed on the upper plastic film above the pizza which, when torn, provides removal of part of the upper plastic film including metal coating above the pizza to provide an opening in a portion of the upper plastic coating for removing the pizza, and perforations in the upper plastic coating which remain after the removal of the part of the upper plastic film including the metal coating for releasing moisture from the heated pizza within the packaging while the metal coating is disposed over the disc. 
     
     
         2 . A packaging according to  claim 1 , wherein the upper plastic film is disposed above an outer side of the lower plastic film, 
     
     
         3 . A packaging according  claim 1 , wherein the lower plastic film has one of a diameter of about 23, 30 and 40 cm.

A packaging according to  claim 1 , comprising support columns and recesses angularly spaced apart along a periphery of a flat plastic piece of the packaging so that packagings, after turning relative to each other, are stacked so that pointed ends of the support columns in a lower packaging engage recesses of an upper packaging. 
     
     
         5 . A packaging according to  claim 1 , wherein:
 the metal coating is encapsulated.
