Envelope seal strip

Abstract

Envelope seal strip are disclosed. An example envelope includes a flap that is rotatable about a hinge between an open position and a closed position of the envelope. The example envelope includes a first adhesive layer disposed on an inner surface of the flap and a sealing strip having a second adhesive layer. In the open position, the sealing strip is releasably coupled to the first adhesive layer via the second adhesive layer. To secure the flap in the closed position, the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer enable the sealing strip to decouple from the first adhesive layer, the hinge enables the flap to rotate about the hinge to cause the first adhesive layer to adhere to a second wall, and the second adhesive layer enables the sealing strip to adhere to the second wall and an outer surface of the flap.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An envelope, comprising:
 a first wall and a second wall coupled to the first wall to define an envelope pocket;   a flap pivotably coupled to the first wall via a hinge, the flap rotatable about the hinge between an open position and a closed position of the envelope;   a first adhesive layer disposed on an inner surface of the flap; and   a sealing strip having a second adhesive layer,   wherein, in the open position, the sealing strip is releasably coupled to the first adhesive layer via the second adhesive layer,   wherein, to secure the flap in the closed position, the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer enable the sealing strip to decouple from the first adhesive layer, the hinge enables the flap to rotate about the hinge to cause the first adhesive layer to adhere to the second wall, and the second adhesive layer enables the sealing strip to adhere to the second wall and an outer surface of the flap such that at least a portion of the second adhesive layer is to overlap at least a portion of the first adhesive layer.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the second adhesive layer is to permanently adhere the sealing strip to the second wall and the outer surface of the flap. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein a portion of the flap is intermediate the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer in the closed position. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing strip protects the first adhesive layer from adhering to another object when the sealing strip is in the open position. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing strip includes a sealing portion including the second adhesive layer, a grasping portion, and a weakened region between the sealing portion and the grasping portion to enable the sealing portion to disconnect from the grasping portion. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the weakened region includes a line of perforations to enable the sealing portion to disconnect from the grasping portion. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the weakened region includes a notch to enable the sealing portion to disconnect from the grasping portion. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the grasping portion is spaced apart from the second adhesive layer. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the grasping portion is composed of a first material and the sealing portion is composed of a second material different than the first material. 
     
     
         10 . An envelope, comprising:
 a flap rotatable about a hinge between an open position and a closed position of an envelope;   a first adhesive layer disposed on an inner surface of the flap; and   a sealing strip having a second adhesive layer, the first adhesive layer having a first adhesive different than a second adhesive of the second adhesive layer,   wherein, in the open position, the sealing strip is releasably coupled to the first adhesive layer via the second adhesive layer,   wherein, to secure the flap in the closed position, the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer enable the sealing strip to decouple from the first adhesive layer, the hinge enables the flap to rotate to enable the first adhesive layer to adhere to a wall of the envelope, and the second adhesive layer enables the sealing strip to adhere to the wall and an outer surface of the flap.   
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein at least a portion of the second adhesive layer is to overlap at least a portion of the first adhesive layer when the sealing strip is in the closed position. 
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the second adhesive enables the sealing strip to decouple from the first adhesive layer and enables the sealing strip to permanently couple adhere to the wall and the outer surface of the flap. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the first adhesive layer is disposed on an inner surface of the flap via a base layer. 
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the base layer retains the first adhesive layer when the second adhesive layer is decoupled from the first adhesive layer. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing strip is composed of at least one of plastic or paper material. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing strip includes a sealing portion, a grasping portion, and a weakened region, the sealing portion includes the second adhesive layer, the weakened region is disposed between the sealing portion and the grasping portion to enable the sealing portion to disconnect from the grasping portion.
