Abstract
An image processing apparatus that is capable of being instructed to power off, by a power switch or a command from an external apparatus, and is capable of executing the restart thereof under appropriate conditions. When power-off is instructed, shutdown is started. Upon completion of the shutdown, if the power switch is on, and at the same time the power-off has been instructed by the power switch of the apparatus, the restart of the apparatus is executed, whereas upon completion of the shutdown, if the power-off has been instructed by a command from the external apparatus, the restart of the apparatus is not executed.

13 . A printing apparatus comprising:
a power switch having on state and off state according to an operation of a user; a receptor which receives an instruction for executing shutdown of the printing apparatus; and a controller which, based on the receptor receiving the instruction for executing shutdown of the printing apparatus, executes a shutdown process of the printing apparatus and controls a display unit to display information for prompting a user to switch the power switch from the on state to the off state.
14 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein the shutdown process includes a termination process of an operating system.
15 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein the shutdown process includes at least one of a closing process of a file, a termination process of an application program, and disconnection processes of communication of input/output apparatuses.
16 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , further comprising a relay disposed in parallel with the power switch,
wherein the controller controls so that the relay is to be turned off, based on the receptor receiving the instruction for executing shutdown of the printing apparatus.
17 . The printing apparatus according to claim 16 , further comprising a power supply controller which controls the relay to be turned off,
wherein the controller controls the power supply controller to turn off the relay.
18 . The printing apparatus according to claim 17 , wherein the power supply controller comprises a logic circuit.
19 . The printing apparatus according to claim 16 , wherein the controller controls so that the relay is to be turned off after execution of the shutdown process has been started.
20 . The printing apparatus according to claim 19 , wherein the controller controls so that the relay is to be turned off after the shutdown process has been completed.
21 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein the controller executes the shutdown process based on the power switch being turned off according to the operation of the user.
22 . The printing apparatus according to claim 21 , further comprising a power supply controller which outputs an interrupt signal to the controller based on the power switch being turned off according to the operation of the user,
wherein the controller executes the shutdown process based on the interrupt signal being inputted, and the power supply controller turns off the relay after the shutdown process has been completed.
23 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein the power switch is disposed between a plug to which an AC power is input and a converter that converts the AC power to a DC power.
24 . The printing apparatus according to claim 23 , wherein the DC power converted by the converter is supplied to the controller.
25 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , having the display unit disposed therein.
26 . A control method of a printing apparatus comprising a power switch having on state and off state according to an operation of a user, the control method comprising:
receiving an instruction for executing shutdown of the printing apparatus; executing a shutdown process of the printing apparatus based on reception of the instruction for executing shutdown of the printing apparatus; and controlling a display unit to display information for prompting a user to turn off the power switch based on reception of the instruction for executing shutdown of the printing apparatus.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
