Abstract

This disclosure provides various embodiments for archiving a business object. At least one particular business object is identified for archiving. The particular business object has associated data including type data corresponding to a business object type of the at least one particular business object, structured business data, and unstructured attachment data. At least one archive-type object is created corresponding to the particular business object by enriching the unstructured attachment data with type-specific metadata including data identifying at least one attribute of the business object type. The archive-type object is archive-system-independent. The at least one archive-type object is exported to at least one archiving system for storage in at least one memory device of the archiving system.

         25 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 transmitting a request, to a data archiving system, for an archived version of at least one particular data object including structured data;   searching a plurality of archive-system-independent archive-type data objects stored in the data archiving system, each archive-type object corresponding to at least one data object and including unstructured attachment data comprising type-specific metadata including data identifying at least one attribute of a data object type of the at least one data object, the searching based on the enrichment to the unstructured attachment data;   identifying, in response to the searching, at least one archive-type data object corresponding to the at least on particular data object, the archive-type data object including the unstructured attachment data; and   using the type-specific metadata to rebuild at least some of the structured data of the at least one particular data object.   
     
     
         26 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 25 , wherein the at least one particular data object includes type data corresponding to a data object type of the at least one particular data object. 
     
     
         27 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 25 , wherein the unstructured attachment data comprises an electronic version of a printed document enriched with the type-specific metadata. 
     
     
         28 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 25 , further comprising using the structured data in a software transaction. 
     
     
         29 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 25 , wherein the type-specific metadata further includes at least a portion of the structured data. 
     
     
         30 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 25 , wherein the type-specific metadata is used to rebuild a reconstructed version of the at least one particular data object. 
     
     
         31 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 30 , wherein the reconstructed version of the at least one particular data object includes at least a portion of the unstructured attachment data. 
     
     
         32 . A non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing one or more instructions executable by a computer system to perform operations comprising:
 transmitting a request, to a data archiving system, for an archived version of at least one particular data object including structured data;   searching a plurality of archive-system-independent archive-type data objects stored in the data archiving system, each archive-type object corresponding to at least one data object and including unstructured attachment data comprising type-specific metadata including data identifying at least one attribute of a data object type of the at least one data object, the searching based on the enrichment to the unstructured attachment data;   identifying, in response to the searching, at least one archive-type data object corresponding to the at least on particular data object, the archive-type data object including the unstructured attachment data; and   using the type-specific metadata to rebuild at least some of the structured data of the at least one particular data object.   
     
     
         33 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of  claim 32 , wherein the at least one particular data object includes type data corresponding to a data object type of the at least one particular data object. 
     
     
         34 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of  claim 32 , wherein the unstructured attachment data comprises an electronic version of a printed document enriched with the type-specific metadata. 
     
     
         35 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of  claim 32 , further comprising using the structured data in a software transaction. 
     
     
         36 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of  claim 32 , wherein the type-specific metadata further includes at least a portion of the structured data. 
     
     
         37 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of  claim 32 , wherein the type-specific metadata is used to rebuild a reconstructed version of the at least one particular data object. 
     
     
         38 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of  claim 37 , wherein the reconstructed version of the at least one particular data object includes at least a portion of the unstructured attachment data. 
     
     
         39 . A computer-implemented system, comprising:
 a computer memory; and   a hardware processor interoperably coupled with the computer memory and configured to perform operations comprising:
 transmitting a request, to a data archiving system, for an archived version of at least one particular data object including structured data; 
 searching a plurality of archive-system-independent archive-type data objects stored in the data archiving system, each archive-type object corresponding to at least one data object and including unstructured attachment data comprising type-specific metadata including data identifying at least one attribute of a data object type of the at least one data object, the searching based on the enrichment to the unstructured attachment data; 
 identifying, in response to the searching, at least one archive-type data object corresponding to the at least on particular data object, the archive-type data object including the unstructured attachment data; and 
 using the type-specific metadata to rebuild at least some of the structured data of the at least one particular data object. 
   
     
     
         40 . The computer-implemented system of  claim 39 , wherein the at least one particular data object includes type data corresponding to a data object type of the at least one particular data object. 
     
     
         41 . The computer-implemented system of  claim 39 , wherein the unstructured attachment data comprises an electronic version of a printed document enriched with the type-specific metadata. 
     
     
         42 . The computer-implemented system of  claim 39 , further comprising using the structured data in a software transaction. 
     
     
         43 . The computer-implemented system of  claim 39 , wherein the type-specific metadata further includes at least a portion of the structured data. 
     
     
         44 . The computer-implemented system of  claim 39 , wherein the type-specific metadata is used to rebuild a reconstructed version of the at least one particular data object. 
     
     
         45 . The computer-implemented system of  claim 44 , wherein the reconstructed version of the at least one particular data object includes at least a portion of the unstructured attachment data.
