Abstract

An intelligent door lock system is at a dwelling occupied by a user. An optical sensor is configured to be coupled to a drive shaft of coupled to a lock. The optical sensor is configured to sense position of the drive shaft to assist in locking and unlocking the lock. An engine, with a memory, is coupled to the optical sensor. An energy source is coupled to the circuit. A user's mobile device, at an interior or exterior of the dwelling, is configured to provide locking or unlocking of the lock, the intelligent door lock system configured to allow controlled access to the dwelling.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An intelligent door lock system at a dwelling occupied by a user, comprising:
an optical sensor configured to be coupled to a drive shaft that is coupled to a lock, the optical sensor configured to sense position of the drive shaft to assist in locking and unlocking the lock; an engine with a memory, the engine being coupled to the optical sensor; a circuit coupled to the engine; an energy source coupled to the circuit; and wherein a user's mobile device at an interior or exterior of the dwelling is configured to provide locking or unlocking of the lock, the intelligent door lock system configured to allow controlled access to the dwelling.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the intelligent door lock system is installed to an existing lock system already mounted at a door.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the intelligent door lock system is installed at a door without a pre-existing lock.

4 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
 a wireless communication apparatus.

5 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the optical sensor determines position of the drive shaft and at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

6 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the optical sensor does not require additional power other than that required for determining the at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the lock can be manually locked and unlocked.

8 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the mobile device is a third party mobile device.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the lock can be locked or unlocked using a cloud based server coupled to the intelligent door lock system.

10 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
wing latches coupled to a chassis of the intelligent door lock system.

11 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the wing latches attach to a mounting plate of the door.

12 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the optical sensor is positioned on the drive shaft.

13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein a sub 10 resolution in position sensing is provided with the intelligent door lock system.

14 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the optical sensor provides at least one of, a number of times a door is closed or opened, a degree of door physical swing, of the door, and distance of door swing.

15 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the optical sensor is configured to provide a determination as to whether or not someone successfully swung the door.

16 . A method using an intelligent door lock system at a dwelling with a door, comprising:
coupling an optical sensor to a drive shaft of a lock an optical sensor; sensing position of the drive shaft to assist in locking and unlocking a lock of the door; coupling a circuit to an engine with a memory; rotating the drive shaft to lock and unlock the lock; and using a user's mobile device at an interior or exterior of the dwelling to provide locking or unlocking of the lock, the intelligent door lock system configured to allow controlled access to the dwelling.

17 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
installing the intelligent door lock system at a pre-existing dwelling door.

18 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
using a wireless communication system to communicate with the optical sensor.

19 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
determining a position of the drive shaft and at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

20 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
manually locking or unlocking the door lock.

21 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
using a server coupled to the intelligent door lock system to lock or unlock the door.

22 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
using wing latches to mount the intelligent door lock system.

23 . An intelligent door lock system, comprising:
