Abstract

There is provided an information processing apparatus including a statistical amount selecting unit that selects, from a plurality of statistical amounts showing features of users, a statistical amount to be used based on distribution of each of the statistical amounts, a priority setting unit that sets priorities of a plurality of users, based on the selected statistical amount, and a display control unit that controls display of the plurality of users or a plurality of pieces of information from the plurality of users, based on the set priorities.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A server comprising:
 at least one processor configured to
 communicate with a plurality of user devices; 
 receive a plurality of user parameters, indicating a feature of each user from various viewpoints, from the plurality of user devices; 
 calculate statistics of each of the plurality of user parameters; 
 select a user parameter for setting from the plurality of user parameters based on the calculated statistics; 
 set priorities of the plurality of users based on the selected user parameter; and 
 generate display information of the plurality of users, or 
   information from the plurality of users based on the set priority.   
     
     
         2 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the calculated statistics include relative standard deviations functioning as indexes to compare distribution of each of a plurality of statistical amounts showing the features of the users.   
     
     
         3 . The server according to  claim 2 ,
 wherein the selected user parameter is selected based on the distribution of each of the statistical amounts.   
     
     
         4 . The server according to  claim 2 ,
 wherein the selected user parameter is selected based on an extent of the distribution of the statistical amounts in the plurality of users with respect to distribution of the statistical amounts in a specific group including the plurality of users.   
     
     
         5 . The server according to  claim 2 ,
 wherein the priorities of the plurality of users are set based on a value designated with respect to the selected user parameter being within a range of a designated value.   
     
     
         6 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to initiate displaying of a user interface for designating a value of the selected user parameter together with the display information of the plurality of users or the information from the plurality of users.   
     
     
         7 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to control a display order of the plurality of users or the information from the plurality of users, based on the priorities.   
     
     
         8 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to extract a user or information to be displayed, from the plurality of users or the information from the plurality of user, based on the set priorities.   
     
     
         9 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to initiate displaying of a value of the selected user parameter together with the plurality of users.   
     
     
         10 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to set high a priority of a user whose similarity of the selected user parameter with the plurality of users or users viewing the information are high.   
     
     
         11 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the features of users include number of friends, number of followers, number of followees, number of content remarks, number of intra-genre content remarks, content reproduction frequency, intra-genre content reproduction frequency, a specialty level, and a property.   
     
     
         12 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to initiate displaying of a larger icon for a user with a higher priority than for a user with a lower priority.   
     
     
         13 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to initiate displaying of an icon of a user with a higher priority to be overlapping an icon for a user with a lower priority.   
     
     
         14 . The server according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor is further configured to initiate displaying of a slider for selecting a value of the user parameter.   
     
     
         15 . An information processing method, the method being executed via at least one processor, and comprising:
 communicating with a plurality of user devices;   receiving a plurality of user parameters, indicating a feature of each user from various viewpoints, from the plurality of user devices;   calculating statistics of each of the plurality of user parameters;   selecting a user parameter for setting from the plurality of user parameters based on the calculated statistics;   setting priorities of the plurality of users based on the selected user parameter; and   generating display information of the plurality of users, or information from the plurality of users based on the set priority.   
     
     
         16 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having embodied thereon a program, which when executed by a computer having circuitry, causes the computer to execute a method, the method comprising:
 communicating with a plurality of user devices;   receiving a plurality of user parameters, indicating a feature of each user from various viewpoints, from the plurality of user devices;   calculating statistics of each of the plurality of user parameters;   selecting a user parameter for setting from the plurality of user parameters based on the calculated statistics;   setting priorities of the plurality of users based on the selected user parameter; and   generating display information of the plurality of users, or information from the plurality of users based on the set priority.
