Topical skin care formulation
Abstract
Disclosed is a topical skin care composition, and method for its use, that includes 55 to 65% by weight of water, 15 to 20% by weight of a combination of 3,3,5-Trimethylcyclohexyl 2-hydroxybenzoate (homosalate), 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-3-(4-tert-butylphenyl)propane-1,3 -dione (avobenzone), 2-ethylhexyl 2-hydroxybenzoate (octisalate), and 2-ethylhexyl 2-cyano-3,3-diphenyl-2-propenoate (octocrylene), 3 to 4% by weight of distearlydimonium chloride, and 1 to 3% by weight of a combination of euterpe oleracea fruit extract, punica granatum sterols, caprooyl tetrapeptide-3, tocopherol or tocopherol acetate, and niacinamide, wherein the composition has a sun protection factor of at least 15 or about 15 to 20.

A topical fragrance-free skin or hair care composition comprising a combination of ethylene brassylate, isobutyl methyl tetrahydropyranol, and optionally methyl linalool, and wherein the combination of odor neutralizing ingredients renders the composition fragrance-free.
2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is an emulsion or a cream.
3 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion.
4 . The composition of claim 1 , further comprising odor neutralizing ingredients methylenedioxyphenyl methylpropanal and cyclamen aldehyde, and wherein the combination of odor neutralizing ingredients renders the composition fragrance-free.
5 . The topical skin care composition of claim 4 , wherein the composition is an emulsion or a cream.
6 . The topical skin care composition of claim 5 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion.
7 . The composition of claim 1 , further comprising odor neutralizing ingredient phenylisohexanol, and wherein the combination of odor neutralizing ingredients renders the composition fragrance-free.
8 . The composition of claim 7 , wherein the composition is an emulsion or a cream.
9 . The composition of claim 8 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion.
10 . A method of reducing or neutralizing odor of a topical skin or hair composition comprising adding a combination of ethylene brassylate, isobutyl methyl tetrahydropyranol, and optionally methyl linalool to a topical skin and/or hair composition, wherein the odor of the topical skin and/or hair composition is reduced and/or neutralized.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the odor neutralizing ingredients selected further comprise methylenedioxyphenyl methylpropanal and cyclamen aldehyde.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the odor neutralizing ingredients selected further comprise phenylisohexanol.
13 . The method claim 10 , wherein the fragrance-free topical skin and/or hair composition is an emulsion or a cream.
14 . The method claim 13 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion.
15 . A method of making a fragrance-free topical skin or hair composition comprising combining ethylene brassylate, isobutyl methyl tetrahydropyranol, and optionally methyl linalool with a non-fragrance-free topical skin or hair composition, wherein the fragrance of the topical skin or hair composition is neutralized.
16 . The method claim 15 , wherein the odor neutralizing ingredients selected further comprise methylenedioxyphenyl methylpropanal and cyclamen aldehyde.
17 . The method claim 15 , wherein the odor neutralizing ingredients selected further comprise phenylisohexanol.
18 . The method claim 15 , wherein the fragrance-free topical skin and/or hair composition is an emulsion or a cream.
