Abstract
A drapery system for forming a window drapery of user-selected length. The system includes first and second drapery sections and at least one fastener for selectively and overlappingly attaching the drapery sections without stitching or sewing. A method of forming a drapery of user-selectable length is also provided.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A multi-component window drapery system, the system including a first drapery component having a pre-manufactured pocket configured to receive and secure therein an end section of a further drapery component, the pre-manufactured pocket being defined by front and rear layers of material arranged in facing relationship and defining an internal space therebetween, the internal space having a predetermined maximum insertion depth limited by a structure that connects the front and rear layers of material, the pre-manufactured pocket being configured to receive an end section of a further drapery component inserted into the pre-manufactured pocket at any user-selected insertion depth up to the maximum insertion depth, the finishing component having pre-manufactured external top and bottom edges and lateral side edges with pre-defined geometries that are independent of the geometry of the further drapery component.
2 . A multi-component window drapery system as recited in claim 1 wherein the structure that connects the front and rear layers of material includes seam between the first and second layers of material.
3 . A method of forming a multi-component window drapery using a finishing drapery component and a further drapery component, the finishing drapery component having a pre-manufactured pocket structure formed by front and rear layers of material in face-to face relationship and defining a pre-manufactured pocket in an internal space therebetween, the front and rear layers of material defining the pre-manufactured pocket being secured relative to each other at a peripheral location of the internal space, the pocket structure having a predetermined depth defined by and extending to the location at which the front and rear layers are secured to each other and being configured to receive an end section of the further drapery component at any location throughout the predetermined depth of the pocket, the finishing drapery component including external top and bottom edges adjacent to top and bottom surfaces of the pocket, the finishing component having pre-manufactured external top and bottom edges and lateral side edges with pre-defined geometries that are independent of the geometry of the further drapery component, the method comprising:
(a) placing one end of the further drapery component without a fastener into the pre-manufactured pocket of the finishing component to a user-defined depth; (b) with the one end of the further drapery component placed into the pre-manufactured pocket, closing the pocket with the one end of the further drapery component located between the front and rear layers of material defining the pre-manufactured pocket of the further drapery component; and (c) securing the one end of the further drapery component in the pre-manufactured pocket.
4 . A method as recited in claim 3 wherein the one end of the further drapery component is secured in the pre-manufactured pocket with a thermally activated adhesive.
5 . A method as recited in claim 4 wherein the thermally activated adhesive is user-applied.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
