Merchandise security system

Abstract

A merchandising security system includes a support adapted to be secured to a first associated merchandising structure. At least one product barrier is movably mounted to the support. The at least one product barrier extends away from the support so as to approach a second associated merchandising structure spaced from the first associated merchandising structure. The product barrier is at least one of slidably mounted in relation to the support and pivotably mounted in relation to the support. The product barrier includes first and second sections which cooperate to retard a forward movement of an associated object supported on the second associated merchandising structure. At least one of the first and second members is mounted in relation to the support via a hinge.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A merchandising security system comprising:
 a support adapted to be secured to a first associated merchandising structure;   at least one product barrier moveably mounted to the support, the at least one product barrier extending away from the support so as to approach a second associated merchandising structure spaced from the first associated merchandising structure; and   wherein the product barrier is at least one of slidably mounted in relation to the support and pivotably mounted in relation to the support wherein the product barrier comprises first and second sections which cooperate to retard a forward movement of an associated object supported on the second associated merchandising structure, wherein at least one of the first and second members is mounted in relation to the support via a hinge.   
     
     
         2 . The merchandising security system of  claim 1  wherein the first section is pivotable in relation to the second section. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2  wherein the first member pivots on a generally horizontally oriented axis in relation to the second member. 
     
     
         4 . The merchandising security system of  claim 1  wherein the first section comprises a body portion; and
 the second member comprises a carriage on which the body portion is supported. 
 
     
     
         5 . The merchandising security system of  claim 4  wherein the body portion includes a front wall and a pair of side walls extending away from the front wall. 
     
     
         6 . The merchandising security system of  claim 4  further comprising a rail mounted to the support, wherein the carriage is slidably mounted to the rail. 
     
     
         7 . The merchandising security system of  claim 4  wherein the body portion comprises a generally rectangular shape. 
     
     
         8 . The merchandising security system of  claim 1  further comprising a blocking arm. 
     
     
         9 . The merchandising security system of  claim 8  wherein the blocking arm extends in a direction perpendicular to a plane of the first section. 
     
     
         10 . The merchandising security system of  claim 1  wherein the product barrier is both slidably and pivotably mounted in relation to the support. 
     
     
         11 . A merchandising security system comprising:
 a support adapted to be secured to a first associated merchandising structure;   at least one product barrier moveably mounted to the support, the at least one product barrier extending away from the support so as to approach a second associated merchandising structure spaced from the first associated merchandising structure; and   wherein the product barrier is slidably mounted in relation to the support, wherein the product barrier comprises first and second sections which are movable in relation to each other, and which cooperate in one position or orientation to retard a forward movement of an associated object supported on the second associated merchandising structure.   
     
     
         12 . The merchandising security system of  claim 11  wherein the first section is pivotable in relation to the second section. 
     
     
         13 . The merchandising security system of  claim 12  wherein the first section pivots on a generally horizontally oriented axis in relation to the second section. 
     
     
         14 . The merchandising security system of  claim 12  wherein the first section extends in a first plane and the second section extends in a second plane which is oriented perpendicular to the first plane in one end position of the first section. 
     
     
         15 . The merchandising security system of  claim 11  wherein the first section comprises a body portion; and
 the second section comprises a carriage on which the body portion is supported. 
 
     
     
         16 . The merchandising security system of  claim 15  wherein the body portion includes a front wall and a pair of side walls which extend away from the front wall. 
     
     
         17 . The merchandising security system of  claim 15  wherein the body portion comprises a generally rectangular shape. 
     
     
         18 . The merchandising security system of  claim 17  wherein the body portion is planar in a front view. 
     
     
         19 . The merchandising security system of  claim 15  further comprising a rail mounted to the support, wherein the carriage is slidably mounted to the rail. 
     
     
         20 . The merchandising security system of  claim 11  wherein the product barrier is both slidably and pivotably mounted in relation to the support.
