Enabling Seamless Remote Access to Online Applications Through a Web Server

Abstract

Matching an appropriate online application for a particular file access is disclosed. In a specific implementation, a seamless remote online application-enabled web page can be served to a web client. In another specific implementation, a script can be injected into a web page to create a seamless remote online application-enabled web page.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 maintaining a file types datastore indicating specific applications that can handle files of specific file types.   receiving a request to open a file having a specific file type represented in the file types datastore from a remote web client through a seamless remote online application-enabled web page executing at the web client;   determining an application of the applications is a default application for handling files of the specific file type;   launching an instance of the application to execute the file remotely from the web client;   providing output of executing the file remotely to the seamless remote online-application enabled web page.
