Abstract

A light-weight case is provided that is cut-resistant, fire-resistant and/or water-proof and that can be easily locked and fasten to stationary objects. The exterior of the case is substantially cut-resistant, while the interior layers can be layers that are fire-resistant, water-proof, any type of padding or nylon for protecting the objects stored in the case. To protect the case from being stolen, a steel cable is threaded through a hole formed by two concentrically aligned grommets and locked to or around a stationary object. The cases include a Global Positioning System (GPS) transmitter that is able to track the location of the case if the case happens to be lost or stolen. The case can be sized and shaped to hold any type of valuable objects, such as guns, jewelry and money.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A case comprising:
 a body having a front panel, a back panel and a bottom, where a portion of the bottom attaches to a bottom portion of the front panel and an opposite portion of the bottom attaches to a bottom portion of the back panel; a zipper having a pull tab for fastening edges of the front panel and the back panel to enable complete closure of the body along a portion of two sides of the body and a top portion of the body; a lock located at one end of the zipper and on one side of the body, the lock being able to securely hold the zipper and pull tab when in a locked position; a first ring fastened to the front panel, where the first grommet is located on the body other than by the lock; and a second grommet fastened to the back panel, where the second grommet is located on the body other than by the lock, an opening of the first grommet and an opening of the second grommet being configured to concentrically align when the zipper is closed.

         2 . A case as in claim 1 , wherein the body has an exterior side and an interior side, and further comprising a layer of substantially cut-resistant fabric that is attached to the exterior side of the body.

         3 . A case as in claim 1 , wherein the body has an exterior side and an interior side, and further comprising a layer of substantially fire-resistant fabric that is attached to the interior side of the body.

         4 . A case as in claim 1 , wherein the body has an exterior side and an interior side, and further comprising a layer of padding that is attached to the interior side of the body.

         5 . A case as in claim 1 , wherein the bottom has a first seam that connects the bottom to

         6 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the lock is securely fastened to the body via one or more rivets.

         7 . A case comprising:
 a body having a front panel, a back panel and a bottom, where a portion of the bottom attaches to a bottom portion of the front panel and an opposite portion of the bottom attaches to a bottom portion of the back panel, the body being formed from at least two layers, the at least two layers including any two layers of a cut-resistant layer, a fire-resistant layer, a bullet-resistant layer and a water-resistant layer; a zipper having a pull tab for joining opposing edges of the front panel and the back panel of the body to enable complete closure of the body when the zipper is closed; a lock located at one end of the zipper, the lock capable of securely holding the pull tab when in a locked position; a first grommet fastened to the front panel, where the first grommet is located on the body other than by the lock; and a second grommet fastened to the back panel, where the second grommet is located on the body other than by the lock, an opening of the first grommet and an opening of the second grommet being configured to concentrically align when the zipper is closed.

         8 . The case of claim 7 , wherein the cut-resistant material is ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material or high tenacity high modulus polyethylene material.

         9 . The case of claim 7 , wherein the first grommet and the second grommet are centrally located on the body.

         10 . The case of claim 7 , wherein the first grommet and the second grommet are configured to interlock.

         11 . The case of claim 7 , further comprising a locking pin, where one end of the locking pin is larger than an opening formed by the first grommet and the second grommet, and wherein the locking pin is configured to be inserted into the opening.

         12 . A case comprising:
 a body having a front panel, a back panel and a bottom, where a portion of the bottom attaches to a bottom portion of the front panel and an opposite portion of the bottom attaches to a bottom portion of the back panel;   a zipper having a pull tab for fastening opposing edges of the body to enable complete closure of the body along the top of the body and portions of sides of the front panel and the back panel;   a lock located at one end of the zipper, the lock capable of joining the zipper and pull tab when in a locked position;   a first grommet fastened to the front of the body, where a center of the first grommet is located halfway along a length of the front of the body and halfway along a height of the front of the body;   a second grommet fastened to the back of the body, where a center of the second grommet is located halfway along the length of the back of the body and halfway along the height of the back of the body;   an opening of the first grommet and an opening of the second grommet being configured to concentrically align when the zipper and the pull tab are in a locked position; and   a cable having a loop at both ends and capable of being inserted through the opening of the first grommet and the second grommet, and fastened around a stationary object;
