Abstract

Systems and methods for recognizing sounds are provided herein. User input relating to one or more sounds is received from a computing device. Instructions, which are stored in memory, are executed by a processor to discriminate the one or more sounds, extract music features from the one or more sounds, analyze the music features using one or more databases, and obtain information regarding the music features based on the analysis. Further, information regarding the music features of the one or more sounds may be transmitted to display on the computing device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 10 . (canceled)

         11 . A method for processing a search query, the method comprising:
 receiving a sound input; classifying a sound from the sound input as music or speech; responsive to determining that the sound represents music:
 extracting music features from the sound;
 searching a database to identify the music based on the music features;
 obtaining information about the music based on the database search result; and
 generating a response to the search query, the response including the information.

         12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising determining that the sound is singing.

         13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising determining that the sound is humming.

         14 . At least one non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, if executed by at least one computer processor would cause the at least one computer processor to process search queries by:
 receiving sound input from a user; classifying a sound from the sound input using an audio discriminator module; and if the sound is music then:
 identifying the music using a sound recognition module; and
 obtaining information about the music from a database.

         15 . A method of classifying one or more sounds, the method comprising:
 receiving a search query comprising the one or more sounds, the search query having been recorded on a computing device using at least one microphone; identifying a sound type of the one or more sounds; and routing the search query to an appropriate sound recognition application for processing based upon the identified sound type.

         16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein identifying a sound type comprises:
 discriminating monophonic from polyphonic sound; and responsive to sound being polyphonic, identifying the sound type as music.

         17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein identifying a sound type comprises:
 analyzing pitch variations; and responsive to pitch variation being large, identifying the sound type as music.

         18 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising extracting music features.

         19 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising extracting speech features.

         20 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising identifying whether a sound input comprises a humming or singing sound.
