Abstract
An effervescent foamable two-component oral care composition in which a first component contains an acid, and a second component contains an alkaline source such as a carbonate; wherein one or both of the first and second components also contains a surfactant; and, wherein the first and second components are combinable to form an effervescing oral care foam.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An effective amount of non-agitated effervescent oral care composition comprising:
a non-agitated combination of:
a first fluid component containing an acid; and
a second fluid component containing an alkaline source;
wherein one or both of the first and second components also contains a a foam stabilizer to thicken the component; wherein the first and second components are structurally disposed to be combined and spontaneously form a substantial, non-agitated effective amount of effervescing oral care foam chemically outside the mouth without any mechanical mixing or agitation added.
2 . An effervescent foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein the first and second components are maintained separately until use.
3 . An effervescent foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein the first and second components are-each liquids.
4 . A effervescent foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein the first and second components are maintained in liquid phase until use.
5 . A effervescent foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein the first and second components are each liquids having viscosity less than 5000 centipoise.
6 . A effervescent foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components are disposed in a respective first or second carrier.
7 . A effervescent foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components are disposed in a respective first or second carrier, and wherein one or both of the first and second carriers is water.
8 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components further includes an oxidizing whitener, a peroxide or a peracetic acid.
9 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components further includes a peroxide in an amount of about 1% (w/w) to about 50% (w/w).
10 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components further includes a peroxide, and wherein said peroxide comprises metal ion free peroxide compounds.
11 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components further includes a peroxide, and wherein said peroxide is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen peroxide, urea peroxide (carbamide peroxide), calcium peroxide, glyceryl peroxide, benzoyl peroxide and mixtures thereof.
12 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein one or both of the first and second components further includes a peroxide, and wherein the peroxide is present in one of from about 10% by weight to about 45% by weight of the first component, and from about 5% by weight to about 35% by weight of the second component.
13 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein the alkaline source of the second component is one or more of an effervescent, a carbonate, an alkali metal carbonate and a bicarbonate.
14 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said second component includes a component selected from the group consisting of surfactants, alkali metal carbonates and bicarbonates, gas and mixtures thereof.
15 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said surfactant comprises one or both of ionic and non-ionic surfactants.
16 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said surfactant is selected from the group consisting of a sodium lauryl sulfate, a phospholipid, a low viscosity poloxamer, hydroxyethyl cellulose 4000-5000 CPS, a polysorbate, a pluronic F68 and a pluronic F88.
17 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said second component is a foaming agent which comprises one or both of a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic component.
18 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said first component comprises an acid selected from the group consisting of water soluble carboxylic acids, tartaric acid, citric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acids, succinic, glycolic, malonic, oxalic, malic, fumaric, maleic or acetic acid, and mixtures thereof.

51 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said composition is substantially free of agents that will tend to inhibit foaming.
52 . A foamable composition as in claim 1 wherein said composition is substantially free of one or the other or both carbon or polymer.
