Polymeric film for agricultural product storage, containers made therefrom and related methods of agricultural product storage

Abstract

The present invention includes polymeric laminate materials, containers made from same and methods for the storage of agricultural products and the like.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A polymeric laminate sheet material comprising:
 a layer comprising a thermoplastic polymeric material, said thermoplastic polymeric material defining a plurality of spaces containing one or more pesticides or insecticides, said thermoplastic polymeric material releasing said one or more said pesticides or insecticides upon penetration.   
     
     
         2 . A polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 1  wherein said plurality of spaces are in the form of a bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material layer containing one or more pesticides or insecticides, said bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material releasing said one or more said pesticides or insecticides upon penetration. 
     
     
         3 . A polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of spaces contain (a) at least one insecticide or pesticide material and (b) a cuticle desiccant. 
     
     
         4 . A polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 1 , wherein said thermoplastic polymeric material contains one or more rodent repellent materials. 
     
     
         5 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 1 , and wherein said inner surface comprises said layer comprising a thermoplastic polymeric material. 
     
     
         6 . A polymeric laminate comprising:
 a. an active ingredient layer comprising a thermoplastic polymeric material, said thermoplastic polymeric material defining a plurality of spaces containing an active ingredient, said thermoplastic polymeric material releasing said one or more said pesticides or insecticides upon penetration; and   b. a first exterior layer comprising a food grade polymer.   
     
     
         7 . A polymeric laminate according to  claim 6 , wherein said active ingredient is selected from the group consisting of pesticides and insecticides. 
     
     
         8 . A polymeric laminate according to  claim 6 , wherein said thermoplastic polymeric material contains one or more rodent repellent materials. 
     
     
         9 . A polymeric laminate according to  claim 6  adapted to permit penetration by an insect, wherein said thermoplastic polymeric material is in the form of a bubble plastic comprising bubbles containing said active ingredient selected from the group consisting of pesticides and insecticides. 
     
     
         10 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 6 . 
     
     
         11 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 6 , and wherein said inner surface comprises said first exterior layer. 
     
     
         12 . A polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 2  wherein said bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material layer contains said one or more pesticides or insecticides, and additionally a rodent repellent. 
     
     
         13 . A polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 2  comprising a first bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material layer comprising bubbles containing at least one rodent repellent material; and a second bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material layer comprising bubbles containing at least one pesticide. 
     
     
         14 . A polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 13 , comprising:
 a. A first outer layer comprising a thermoplastic polymeric material containing at least one ultraviolet blocking material;   b. A second outer layer comprising a food grade polymer and an adhesive; and, interposed without respect to order between said first outer layer and said second outer layer, the following layers:
 i. said first bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material layer comprising bubbles containing at least one rodent repellent material; 
 ii. said second bubble plastic thermoplastic polymeric material layer comprising bubbles containing at least one pesticide. 
   
     
     
         15 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 1 . 
     
     
         16 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 2 . 
     
     
         17 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 3 . 
     
     
         18 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 13 . 
     
     
         19 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 6 . 
     
     
         20 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 6 , and wherein said inner surface comprises said second outer layer. 
     
     
         21 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 14 . 
     
     
         22 . An agricultural product storage container having an inner surface and formed from a polymeric laminate sheet material according to  claim 14 , and wherein said inner surface comprises said second outer layer.
