Abstract

An image processing apparatus includes a determination unit configured to determine coordinate of a region in a web page having a plurality of elements in a structured document, the display region being specified by a user, an extraction unit configured to extract image data corresponding to the coordinate determined by the determination unit in the web page, an output unit configured to output an image based on the image data extracted by the extraction unit, wherein, when the region specified by the user is a part clipped out of an element in the web page, the extraction unit extracts image data of the part of the element corresponding to the coordinate determined by the determination unit

1 . A method executed by an apparatus having a display unit which displays a web page on a first area in a browser window of a web browser and displays a first display item on a second area different from the first area, in the browser window, the method comprising:
 causing the display unit, in response to designation of the first display item by a user, to display concurrently both of a region image indicating a predetermined part of the web page on the first area in an overlapping manner on the web page and a second display item for designating output of a part indicated by the region image, in the browser window, even if no instruction is performed in the first area by the user;   changing the predetermined part to another part indicated by the region image after the region image is displayed, in accordance with an instruction by the user, and   causing an outputting apparatus to output an image corresponding to the another part indicated by the region image, based on designation of the second display item.   
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein a region selection window including a predetermined region corresponding to the predetermined part of the web page and another region, is displayed as the region image. 
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the predetermined part in a predetermined size is indicated by the region image which is initially displayed in response to designation of the first display item, and the predetermined size is changed to another size of the another part, in accordance with the instruction by the user. 
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the web page has a plurality of elements in a structured document,
 and the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image which includes a portion of an element and does not include another portion of the element.   
     
     
         5 . The method according to  claim 4 , wherein the outputting apparatus is caused to output a first image which includes a portion of an element of vector data and does not include another portion of the element, by extracting the element, by generating a second image corresponding to the extracted element, and by clipping the first image from the generated second image. 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein a position of the predetermined part in the first area is substantially central in the first area, and the position is changed to another position of the another part, in accordance with the instruction by the user. 
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the region image indicates a rectangle part of the web page. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the region image indicates, in a whole of the web page, coordinates of the predetermined part or the another part. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image corresponding to the another part, and not to output another image of the web page. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the method is executed by executing a plug-in program for the web browser by a processor of the apparatus. 
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein a printing display item for designating printing of the web page is displayed by the web browser in the browser window before the first display item is designated, and another printing display item, as the second display item, for designating printing of an image corresponding to the predetermined part or the another part, is further displayed in the browser window by the plug-in program, in response to designation of the first display item. 
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the second display item is a printing display item for designating printing of an image corresponding to the predetermined part or the another part, and the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image to a printing apparatus. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the second display item is a displaying display item for designating displaying of an image corresponding to the predetermined part or the another part, and the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image to the display unit. 
     
     
         14 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer having a display unit which displays a web page on a first area in a browser window of a web browser and displays a first display item on a second area different from the first area in the browser window, to perform a method, the method comprising:
 causing the display unit, in response to designation of the first display item by a user, to display concurrently both of a region image indicating a predetermined part of the web page on the first area in an overlapping manner on the web page and a second display item for designating output of a part indicated by the region image, in the browser window, even if no instruction is performed in the first area by the user;   changing the predetermined part to another part indicated by the region image after the region image is displayed, in accordance with an instruction by the user, and   causing an outputting apparatus to output an image corresponding to the another part indicated by the region image which is displayed, based on designation of the second display item.   
     
     
         15 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein a region selection window including a predetermined region corresponding to the predetermined part of the web page and another region, is displayed as the region image. 
     
     
         16 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the predetermined part in a predetermined size is indicated by the region image which is initially displayed in response to designation of the first display item, and the predetermined size is changed to another size of the another part, in accordance with the instruction by the user. 
     
     
         17 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the web page has a plurality of elements in a structured document,
 and the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image which includes a portion of an element and does not include another portion of the element.   
     
     
         18 . The storage medium according to  claim 17 , wherein the outputting apparatus is caused to output a first image which includes a portion of an element of vector data and does not include another portion of the element, by extracting the element, by generating a second image corresponding to the extracted element, and by clipping the first image from the generated second image. 
     
     
         19 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein a position of the predetermined part in the first area is substantially central in the first area, and the position is changed to another position of the another part, in accordance with the instruction by the user. 
     
     
         20 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the region image indicates a rectangle part of the web page. 
     
     
         21 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the region image indicates, Lou whole of the web page, coordinates of the predetermined part or the another part. 
     
     
         22 . The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image corresponding to the another part, and not to output another image of the web page.

The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the second display item is a printing display item for designating printing of an image corresponding to the predetermined part or the another part, and the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image to a printing apparatus.

The storage medium according to  claim 14 , wherein the second display item is a displaying display item for designating displaying of an image corresponding to the predetermined part or the another part, and the outputting apparatus is caused to output the image to the display unit. 
     
     
         25 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a plug-in program for a web browser and for causing a computer to having a display unit which displays a web page on a first area in a browser window of the web browser and displays a first display item on a second area different from the first area in the browser window, to perform a method, the method comprising:
 causing the display unit, in response to designation of the first display item by a user, to display concurrently both of a region image indicating a predetermined part of the web page on the first area in an overlapping manner on the web page and a second display item for designating output of a part indicated by the region image, in the browser window, even if no instruction is performed in the first area by the user;   changing the predetermined part to another part indicated by the region image after the region image is displayed, in accordance with an instruction by the user, and   causing an outputting apparatus to output an image corresponding to the another part indicated by the region image which is displayed, based on designation of the second display item.   
     
     
         26 . The storage medium according to  claim 25 , wherein a printing display item for designating printing of the web page is displayed by the web browser in the browser window before the first display item is designated, and another printing display item, as the second display item, for designating printing of an image corresponding to the predetermined part or the another pail, is further displayed in the browser window by the plug-in program, in response to designation of the first display item.
