Abstract

A rotor assembly having a first component and a second component. The second component is secured within a bore of the first component by a first adhesive and a second adhesive. The first adhesive forms an annular seal between the first component and the second component, and the second adhesive extends from the first adhesive and has a lower viscosity than that of the first adhesive.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

2 . A rotor assembly comprising a first component having a bore, and a second component secured within the bore by a first adhesive and a second adhesive, wherein the first adhesive forms an annular seal between the first component and the second component, the second adhesive extends from the first adhesive and has a lower viscosity than that of the first adhesive, and the second adhesive of the lower viscosity extends axially along a longer length of the bore than the first adhesive of the higher viscosity.

3 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the bore has a first end and a second end, the first adhesive is located at a position adjacent the first end, and the second adhesive extends from the first adhesive to a position adjacent the second end.

4 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the bore is tapered and the first adhesive is located along a portion of the bore having a smaller diameter than that along which the second adhesive is located.

5 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the bore has one or more axial grooves and the second adhesive is located in the grooves.

6 . The rotor assembly of claim 5 , wherein the bore has a first end and a second end, the grooves extend from the second end and terminate prior to the first end, and the first adhesive is located at a position adjacent the first end.

7 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the second adhesive extends axially along a longer length than that of the first adhesive.

8 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the first component is one of a shroud and an impeller, the second component forms part of a sub-assembly comprising the other of the shroud and the impeller, and the shroud covers the impeller.

9 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the first component is a shroud, the second component is a bearing assembly, the rotor assembly comprises an impeller and a shaft to which the bearing assembly and the impeller are mounted, and the shroud covers the impeller.

10 . The rotor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the first component and the second component each comprise an o-ring seat that are aligned concentrically.

11 . A rotor assembly comprising a shaft, a bearing assembly, an impeller and a shroud, the bearing assembly and the impeller being mounted to the shaft, and the shroud being mounted to the bearing assembly so as to cover the impeller, wherein the bearing assembly is secured within a bore of the shroud by a first adhesive and a second adhesive, the first adhesive forms an annular seal between the first component and the second component, the second adhesive extends from the first adhesive and has a lower viscosity than that of the first adhesive, and the second adhesive of the lower viscosity extends axially along a longer length of the bore than the first adhesive of the higher viscosity.

12 . A turbomachine comprising a frame and a rotor assembly, wherein the rotor assembly comprises a first component having a bore, and a second component secured within the bore by a first adhesive and a second adhesive, the first adhesive forms an annular seal between the first component and the second component, the second adhesive extends from the first adhesive and has a lower viscosity than that of the first adhesive, the second adhesive of the lower viscosity extends axially along a longer length of the bore than the first adhesive of the higher viscosity, the first component and the second component each comprise an o-ring seat, and the rotor assembly is soft-mounted to the frame by an o-ring located in each seat.
