Abstract

A storage device has a base plate having a length, a width, a thickness and at least two through openings for accepting mounting screws, an annular mounting collar affixed or otherwise formed on the base plate, the mounting collar having at least an inside diameter, a first tube fixed onto the mounting collar of the base plate, the first tube having a length and diameter and extending orthogonally from the mounting plate and including a stop cap at the free end of the tube, and a second tube slidably mounted over the first tube, the second tube having a length and diameter larger than that of the first tube, the second tube including a back stop affixed to one end of the tube and an end cap affixed to the free end of the tube.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A storage device comprising:
a base plate having a length, a width, a thickness and at least two through openings for accepting mounting screws; an annular mounting collar affixed or otherwise formed on the base plate, the mounting collar having at least an inside diameter; a first tube fixed onto the mounting collar of the base plate, the first tube having a length and diameter and extending orthogonally from the mounting plate and including a stop cap at the free end of the tube; and a second tube slidably mounted over the first tube, the second tube having a length and diameter larger than that of the first tube, the second tube including a back stop affixed to one end of the tube and an end cap affixed to the free end of the tube.

2 . The storage device of claim 1 , wherein the storage device is mounted to a back wall inside a cabinet, closet, cubby, or other suitable and accessible enclosure and stores rolls of a product onto the second tube.

3 . The storage device of claim 2 , wherein the product rolls are retrieved by pulling them off of the end of the second tube and wherein sliding the tube out from the base facilitates simpler acquisition and reloading of product.

4 . The storage device of claim 2 , wherein the product rolls are one of toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, or tape rolls.

5 . The storage device of claim 2 mounted underneath a sink basin.

6 . The storage device of claim 2 , wherein the second tube includes a locking feature manually locking it to the base plate preventing slide-out unless unlocked.

7 . The storage device of claim 6 , wherein the locking feature is a twist-lock feature operated by turning the second tube to the right while urged back against the base to lock it and back to the left to free it for sliding.

8 . The storage device of claim 1 further including:
a spring installed over the first tube, the spring having a spring tension set against the weight of the product and associated frictional forces when loaded onto the second tube such that all of the product loaded on the tube overcomes the spring tension and wherein removal of a roll of product causes the second tube to slide out at least to some extent automatically due to the spring tension force overcoming product weight and frictional forces.

9 . The storage device of claim 1 , wherein the mounting collar, first tube and second tube formed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

10 . The storage device of claim 1 wherein first tube has an outside diameter identical to or just larger than the inside diameter of the mounting collar, the first tube pressed into the opening and glued using a PVC glue.

11 . A method for installing a storage device, the device including a base plate adapted for wall mounting, a mounting collar formed on the base plate, a first tube having a length and an outside diameter and a first end cap, a second tube having a length and an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the first tube, the second tube having a back stop at one end and a second end cap affixed to the free end of the second tube comprising:
mounting the base plate on a pre-determined vertical surface location; fixing the first end cap to one end of the first tube; fixing the back stop to one end of the second tube; sliding the first capped tube into the second tube free end first through the free end of the second tube till the open end of the first tube slides through the back stop at the distant end of the second tube; fixing the open end of the first tube into the mounting collar on the base plate; and fixing the second end cap to the open end of the second tube.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the vertical surface location is located at the rear of a cabinet, cubby, or closet.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the base plate is mounted using screws placed through provided openings in the base plate.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the tube components are assembled using PVC cement.

15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the tube components are pre-threaded for assembly and are screwed together.
