Chin Socket

Abstract

Chin Socket for a crossbow or firearm that extends rearward from firing mechanism. Rearward trailing end of stock comes in contact with user's shoulder when crossbow or firearm is in firing position. The stock does not come in contact with any part of user's head, jaw or cheek. Chin socket attaches to firing mechanism and has a central member that extends rearward and aligns centrally with firing mechanism and aligns vertically and centrally below sighting device. Rearward trailing end of chin socket comes along side chin; lateral member extends outward in front of and beneath chin forming a socket for chin. When mounting crossbow or firearm, only chin is placed in chin socket allowing the user's head to be perpendicular with sighting device and target, allowing for minimal head movement and quicker alignment of eye with sight with greater accuracy during the mounting of crossbow or firearm.

1 . Chin sockets for crossbow or firearm comprises of a first central member having a forward leading end and rearward trailing end, forward leading end couples to rearward trailing end of firing mechanism of crossbow or firing mechanism of firearm; rearward trailing end of said first central member extends rearward and centrally aligns with firing mechanism and railing of crossbow or firing mechanism and barrel of firearm and sighting device that aligns centrally over firing mechanism and railing of crossbow or firing mechanism and barrel of firearm; said first central member having first and second opposing sides. 
     
     
         2 . Chin Socket of  claim 1 , further comprising of first lateral member that links to and extends outward from said forward leading end of first opposing side of first central member, rearward trailing side of first lateral member and first opposing side of rearward trailing end of first central member that forms said chin socket for right side of chin when user has said crossbow or said firearm in firing position.

Chin Socket of  claim 1 , further comprising of second lateral member that links to and extends outward from forward leading end of second opposing side of said first central member, rearward trailing side of first lateral member and first opposing side of rearward trailing end of said first central member that forms chin socket for left side of chin when user has said crossbow or said firearm in firing position; said chin sockets of  claim 1  and  claim 2  accommodate both right and left handed shooters. 
     
     
         4 . Chin socket of  claim 1 , further comprising of said forward leading end of first central member and rearward trailing end of firing mechanism having an adjusting means that allows said chin sockets to adjust upward or downward until eye comes in line with sighting device; a means to lock said chin sockets in place allows chin to rest in said chin socket assuring proper alignment of eye with sight when said crossbow or said firing mechanism is in firing position by user. 
     
     
         5 . Chin Socket of  claim 1 , further comprising wherein said first central member aligns vertically rearward and under said sighting device human eye is substantially vertical above side of chin; said first and said second opposing sides of first central member align substantially vertical beneath said sighting device; when side of chin is placed against said first or said second opposing side of first central member eye aligns with said sighting device allowing head to stay substantially perpendicular with said sighting device and target when said crossbow or said firing mechanism is in firing position by user. 
     
     
         6 . Stock Butt comprises of a first elongated member having forward leading end and rearward trailing end; forward leading end of said first elongated member couples to lower rearward trailing end of said firing mechanism of crossbow or said firing mechanism of firearm beneath said chin sockets; said rearward trailing end extends rearward coming in contact with shoulder in firing position, no part of said stock butt contacts head of user such as jaw or cheek when user has said stock butt of said crossbow or said firearm in firing position, in firing position only chin of user's head is placed in said chin socket of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         7 . Stock Butt of  claim 6 , further comprising wherein said stock butt of  claim 6  wherein said forward leading end of elongated stock butt fastens to lower rearward trailing end of said firing mechanism; said forward leading end of elongated stock butt having an attaching and detaching means that couples said forward leading end of elongated stock butt to said rearward lower trailing end of firing mechanism of said crossbow or said firearm that allows said elongated stock butt to be attached or detached from said firing mechanism of said crossbow or said firing mechanism of firearm thus allowing user of said crossbow or of firearm mount to stabilize head with sight using chin in said chin socket when said stock butt is removed from said firing mechanism of said crossbow or firing mechanism of said firearm, when said stock butt is detached said chin socket remains attached to said rearward trailing end of firing mechanism of said crossbow or said firearm mechanism. 
     
     
         8 . Stock Butt and Chin Socket comprising of said stock butt having forward leading end and rearward trailing end and said chin sockets that are integrated together in one unit having a right and a left socket in a fixed position.
