Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A method for the treatment of laminitis, the method comprising administering a mast cell stabilizer to a subject in need thereof, wherein the mast cell stabilizer treats laminitis in the subject.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is selected from the group consisting of horse, pig, cow, sheep, goat, mule, donkey, buffalo, and camel.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mast cell stabilizer is administered one time, two times, daily, every other day, every three days, every four days, every five days, every six days, twice weekly, weekly, every other week, twice a month, monthly, or every other month.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject suffers from recurring chronic laminitis and wherein the mast cell stabilizer is administered on a daily basis.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mast cell stabilizer is selected from the group consisting of nedocromil sodium, cromolyn sodium, pemirolast, lodoxamise trometamol, and odoxamide.

. The method of claim 5 , wherein the mast cell stabilizer is nedocromil sodium.

. The method of claim 6 , wherein the nedocromil sodium is administered through intravenous injection.

. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising administering to the subject a medicament selected from the group consisting of anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, and analgesic.

. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising administering to the subject stem cells.

. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising administering the mast cell stabilizer as a second dose within about 18 to about 30 hours after administering a first dose.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mast cell stabilizer is administered in a dose of at least about 3 mg/kg to at least about 10 mg/kg subject body weight.

. A method for the treatment of laminitis, the method comprising inhibiting mast cell degranulation in a subject in need thereof.

. The method of claim 12 , wherein the inhibiting mast cell degranulation comprises administrating to the subject a mast cell stabilizer selected from the group consisting of nedocromil sodium, cromolyn sodium, pemirolast, lodoxamise trometamol, and odoxamide.

. A method of preventing laminitis, the method comprising:
 a) identifying a subject at risk for laminitis; and b) administering a mast cell stabilizer to the subject in an amount effective for preventing laminitis.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mast cell stabilizer is administered daily.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mast cell stabilizer is administered daily until the risk of laminitis is diminished.

. The method of claim 14 , the method further comprising administering to the subject a medicament selected from the group consisting of anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antihistamine.

. The method of claim 17 , wherein the medicament is antihistamine and the antihistamine is selected from the group consisting of benadryl, histadyl, triplennamine, pyrilaminic maleate, and chlortrimeton maleate.

.- 21 . (canceled)
