Abstract

Publishing content in a web-viewable format to make the content accessible over a network to one or more requestors at respective computers includes responding to a print operation initiated by a program in regard to the content to be published, the print operation being directed by a virtual printer driver to a system having one or more microprocessors. Using code executing in the or more microprocessors, content is received from the program, which can be independent of the system, the content is converted into a web viewable format, and the converted content is stored in a storage area. The converted content is thereafter made accessible for viewing in the web-viewable format to the one or more requestors at respective computers over the network. In further aspects, the storage area can comprise a third-party storage area for which authentication need be provided to allow storage of the content.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 13 . (canceled)

14 . A method for publishing content using a virtual printer driver, comprising the steps of:
 (a) responding to a print operation initiated by a program in regard to the content to be published, the print operation being directed by the virtual printer driver to a system having one or more microprocessors, by: (1) using code executing in the one or more microprocessors of the system, receiving the content from the program; (2) using code executing in the one or more microprocessors of the system, converting the content into a web viewable format; and (3) using code executing in the one or more microprocessors of the system, storing the converted content in a storage area; and (b) making accessible over a network to one or more requestors at respective computers the converted content for viewing in the web viewable format.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the storage area is a third-party storage area, the method further comprising providing authentication to the third-party storage area to allow storage of the content.

16 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising the step of using code executing in the one or more microprocessors of the system to convert the content into an intermediate format prior to the step of converting the content into a web viewable format.

17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the received content includes color and wherein the intermediate format retains the color in the received content.

18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the web viewable format comprises one or more webpages.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the received content includes color and wherein the one or more webpages include the color in the received content.

20 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the web viewable format comprises one or more webpages and wherein the program does not support an HTML output and cannot produce webpages except for being directed by the virtual printer driver to the system.

21 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the web viewable format comprises one or more webpages and wherein the program cannot produce webpages except for being directed by the virtual printer driver to the system.

22 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the program is independent of the system.
