Stent and Other Object Removal From a Body
Abstract
This disclosure contains methods, devices, and systems for object removal from a body, including removal of a stent from a body. Some methods of the present disclosure include inflating a balloon on a catheter, engaging a stent with a socket defined by a surface of the balloon, the surface inwardly sloped toward a lumen of the catheter, and retracting a portion of the stent through the socket and into the lumen. The present disclosure also includes methods for making a catheter, including forming a balloon, inverting a portion of the balloon, and attaching the balloon to a catheter such that a surface of the balloon defines a socket that is inwardly sloped toward a lumen of the catheter.

20 . A device for removal of an object from within a body, comprising:
an inwardly sloped receiving socket connected to a catheter shaft, the receiving socket comprising a plurality of arms, each arm having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of each arm attached to the catheter, the distal end of each arm projects outward, each arm is moveable having a compressed position and an expanded position; a flexible polymer material connecting the plurality of arms, the catheter shaft having a distal end and a lumen with a distal end opening on the distal end of the catheter shaft, the lumen having an inner diameter profile at the distal end opening; and a suction force to move the object through the inwardly sloped receiving socket and into the lumen.
21 . The device of claim 20 , wherein the object having an outer profile, the outer profile being reduced distally of the distal end opening as the object engages the surface of the deployed receiving socket and moves through the deployed receiving socket.
22 . The device of claim 20 , further comprising a tool independently moveable coaxially within the lumen.
23 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the tool is comprised of a tool shaft having a distal end and a lumen with a distal end opening on the distal end of the tool shaft.
24 . The device of claim 23 , wherein the tool further comprises at least one expandable arm attached to the distal end of the tool shaft.
25 . The device of claim 24 , wherein the tool is dimensioned to fit beyond the distal end opening of the catheter shaft thereby expanding the at least one arm of the tool.
26 . The device of claim 25 , further comprising suctioning through the tool lumen.
27 . The device of claim 20 , wherein the suction force draws blood within the lumen of the catheter shaft.
29 . The device of claim 20 , wherein the object is a natural object.
29 . A system for removal of an object from within a body, comprising:
an inwardly sloped receiving socket connected to a catheter shaft, the receiving socket comprising a plurality of arms, each arm having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of each arm attached to the catheter, the distal end of each arm projects outward, each arm is moveable having a compressed position and an expanded position; a flexible polymer material connecting the plurality of arms, the catheter shaft having a distal end and a lumen with a distal end opening on the distal end of the catheter shaft, the lumen having an inner diameter profile at the distal end opening; a pump to create a suction force to move the object through the inwardly sloped receiving socket and into the lumen; and a tool coaxially moveable within the catheter lumen, the tool sized to extend distally beyond a distal most end of the receiving socket for a selected distance, the tool having expandable arms attached to the distal end thereof.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
