Underarm absorptive article

Abstract

Disclosed is an adhesively attachable to at least a portion of the skin surrounding a user's armpit, the article having a first surface facing the body of a user and at least a second surface aligned approximately opposite the first surface, further having a cruciform shaped backing layer in communication with a cruciform shaped top layer. The top layer of the article has a raised portion defining a space between the top layer and the backing layer, the space adapted for receiving an absorbent padding. The raised portion has an opening exposing at least a portion of the absorbent padding on the first surface of the article to the user's skin when the article is worn.

I/We claim: 
     
         1 . An article adhesively attachable to at least a portion of the skin surrounding a user's armpit, the article having a first surface facing the body of a user and at least a second surface aligned approximately opposite the first surface, wherein the article further comprises
 a cruciform shaped backing layer in communication with a cruciform shaped top layer, the top layer having a raised portion defining a space between the top layer and the backing layer, the space adapted for receiving an absorbent padding, and   wherein the raised portion has an opening exposing at least a portion of the absorbent padding on the first surface of the article.   
     
     
         2 . The article as in  claim 1 , wherein the opening is cruciform in shape. 
     
     
         3 . The article of  claim 1  wherein the opening is oval in shape. 
     
     
         4 . The article of  claim 1  wherein the opening is circular in shape. 
     
     
         5 . The article as in  claim 1 , wherein the cruciform shape of the article further defines at least four arms covering at a central portion; the at least for arms comprising at least a top arm, a bottom arm, and two side arms. 
     
     
         6 . The article as in  claim 5 , wherein the bottom arm is longer than the top arm. 
     
     
         7 . The article as in  claim 5 , wherein the two side arms comprise a first side arm and a second side arm and the first side arm is adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human pectoralis major and the second side arm is adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human teres minor. 
     
     
         8 . The article as in  claim 5 , wherein the bottom arm is adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human serratus anterior. 
     
     
         9 . The article as in  claim 5 , wherein the top arm is adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human coracobrachialis. 
     
     
         10 . The article as in  claim 5 , wherein the side arms are the same length. 
     
     
         11 . The article as in  claim 5  wherein at least one of the at least four arms has a tapered neck converging at the central portion. 
     
     
         12 . The article as in  claim 11 , wherein all of the at least four arms have tapered necks converging at the central portion. 
     
     
         13 . An article comprising:
 a cruciform shaped backing layer and a cruciform shaped top layer, both having at least four arms converging at a central portion, the backing layer and the top layer together sandwiching an absorbent padding positioned in the area corresponding to at least the central portion, the article having   at least a first side arm adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human pectoralis major;   at least a second side arm adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human teres minor;   at least a bottom arm adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human serratus anterior, and   at least a top arm adapted for adhesive attachment to the skin in a location approximately corresponding to skin covering a human coracobrachialis;   wherein the article is configured to expose at least a portion of the absorbent padding to the body of a user when the article is attached to the user.   
     
     
         14 . The article of  claim 13  comprising a sweatpad. 
     
     
         15 . The article of  claim 13  having a first surface facing the body of a user and at least a second surface aligned approximately opposite the first surface. 
     
     
         16 . The article as in  claim 15 , wherein the first surface has an adhesive material on the first surface for attaching the article on the skin of a user. 
     
     
         17 . The article of  claim 15 , wherein the top layer has an opening exposing at least a portion of the absorbent padding on the first surface of the article. 
     
     
         18 . The article of  claim 17  wherein the opening is cruciform in shape. 
     
     
         19 . The article of  claim 17  wherein the opening is oval in shape. 
     
     
         20 . The article of  claim 17  wherein the opening is circular in shape.
