Abstract
An apparatus that executes a job, broadcasts a wireless signal prior to establishing a connection by wireless communication with an external apparatus. The wireless signal includes information relating to the apparatus, by which it can be identified whether execution of a job by the apparatus is possible, in a predetermined packet.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An apparatus that executes a job, the apparatus comprising:
a broadcast unit configured to broadcast a wireless signal prior to establishing a connection by wireless communication with an external apparatus, wherein the wireless signal includes information relating to the apparatus, by which it can be identified whether execution of a job by the apparatus is possible, in a predetermined packet.
2 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein
the information relating to the apparatus includes at least one of information relating to a state of the apparatus, and information relating to a capability of the apparatus.
3 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein
the information relating to the capability includes capability information representing a capability of the apparatus.
4 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein
the information relating to the state includes setting information representing a setting state of the apparatus.
5 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein
the information relating to the state includes error information representing an error state of the apparatus.
6 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein based on a response to the wireless signal a network connection is established with an external apparatus by the wireless communication.
7 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a switching unit configured to switch a receiving unit to a state in which the receiving unit can receive from an external apparatus a response to the wireless signal broadcast by the broadcast unit, wherein
if the apparatus is in an error state, the switching unit does not switch to the state in which the response to the wireless signal can be received from the external apparatus.
8 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein
if there is a possibility that the error state will be cancelled by notifying the error state to an external apparatus, the switching unit switches to the state in which the response to the predetermined packet can be received from the external apparatus.
9 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein
the switching unit, after switching to the state in which the response to the wireless signal can be received from the external apparatus, switches to a state in which the response to the wireless signal cannot be received from the external apparatus after a predetermined amount of time elapses.
10 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein
if a capacity of the information which is broadcasted by the broadcast unit and is relating to the apparatus is larger than a predetermined packet capacity, the information relating to the apparatus is divided and broadcasted.
11 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising
a control unit configured to, if the apparatus is in a predetermined state, execute the broadcasting by the broadcast unit after switching from a power from a main body power source of the apparatus to a power from a storage battery.
12 . The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein
the wireless signal broadcasted by the broadcast unit includes information of a signal strength by which a distance between the external apparatus and the apparatus can be identified.
13 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein
the wireless communication is in compliance with a BLE standard.
14 . An apparatus that executes a job, the apparatus comprising:
a determination unit configured to determine whether an error occurs in the apparatus; a broadcast unit configured to broadcast a wireless signal prior to establishing a connection by wireless communication with an external apparatus; and a switching unit configured to switch a receiving unit to a state in which the receiving unit can receive from an external apparatus a response to the wireless signal broadcast by the broadcast unit, wherein if it is determined by the determination unit that an error occurs, the switching unit does not switch the receiving unit to the state in which the receiving unit can receive from the external apparatus the response to the wireless signal.
15 . A method of controlling an apparatus, the method comprising:
executing a job; and broadcasting a wireless signal prior to establishing a connection by wireless communication with an external apparatus, wherein the wireless signal includes information relating to the apparatus, by which it can be identified whether execution of a job by the apparatus is possible, in a predetermined packet.
16 . A method of controlling an apparatus comprising:
executing a job; and determining whether an error occurs in the apparatus; broadcasting a wireless signal prior to establishing a connection by wireless communication with an external apparatus; and switching a receiving unit to a state in which the receiving unit can receive from an external apparatus a response to the wireless signal, wherein if it is determined that an error occurs, the receiving unit is not switched to the state in which the receiving unit can receive from the external apparatus the response to the wireless signal.
17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as an apparatus, wherein
the program causes the computer to function as an executing unit configured to execute a job; and a broadcast unit configured to broadcast a wireless signal, including information relating to the apparatus, by which it can be identified whether execution of a job by the apparatus is possible, in a predetermined packet, prior to establishing a connection by wireless communication with an external apparatus.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
