Abstract

An information processing apparatus which makes it possible to make communication settings with ease. A mobile terminal as the information processing apparatus includes a Bluetooth controller that causes a Bluetooth communication section to receive a packet, a CPU that generates a device list, based on the packet, a display section that displays the device list. The CPU selects a device from the device list based on a received radio field intensity of the packet or selects a device from the device list based on a selection operation by a user. The mobile terminal further includes a wireless LAN controller that cause a wireless LAN communication section to transmit data to the selected device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A information processing apparatus comprising:
 a reception unit configured to receive a packet;   a generation unit configured to generate a device list, based on the packet received by said reception unit;   a display unit configured to display the device list;   a first selection unit configured to select a device from the device list, based on a received radio field intensity of the packet;   a second selection unit configured to select a device from the device list, based on a selection operation by a user; and   a transmission unit configured to transmit data to the device selected by said first selection unit or said second selection unit.   
     
     
         2 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 1  further comprising a determination unit configured to determine, based on at least the received radio field intensity, whether or not a device as a transmission source of the packet satisfies a predetermined condition, and
 wherein said first selection unit selects a device that is determined by said determination unit as satisfying the predetermined condition. 
 
     
     
         3 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 2 , further comprising a calculation unit configured to calculate, based on at least the received radio field intensity, a distance between the device as the transmission source and the information processing apparatus, and
 wherein said determination unit determines the device as the transmission source as satisfying the predetermined condition in a case where the distance calculated by said calculation unit is shorter than a predetermined distance.   
     
     
         4 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein said transmission unit transmits the data by using wireless LAN communication. 
     
     
         5 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 4 , further comprising an acquisition unit configured to acquire setting information of the wireless LAN communication from the device selected by said first selection unit or said second selection unit, and
 wherein the wireless LAN communication is wireless communication based on the setting information acquired by said acquisition unit.   
     
     
         6 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 5 , wherein said acquisition unit acquires the setting information by using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) communication. 
     
     
         7 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein the packet is an advertising packet of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). 
     
     
         8 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein the device list indicates a plurality of printing apparatuses, and
 wherein said transmission unit transmits a print job to a printing apparatus selected by said first selection unit or said second selection unit from the plurality of printing apparatuses. 
 
     
     
         9 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein in the device list, at least name of each device is shown. 
     
     
         10 . A method of controlling an information processing apparatus, comprising:
 receiving a packet;   generating a device list, based on the packet received by said receiving;   displaying the device list;   selecting a device from the device list, based on a received radio field intensity of the packet;   selecting a device from the device list, based on a selection operation by a user; and   transmitting data to the device selected by said first-mentioned selecting or said second-mentioned selecting.   
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 10 , further comprising determining, based on at least the received radio field intensity, whether or not a device as a transmission source of the packet satisfies a predetermined condition, and
 wherein said first-mentioned selecting includes selecting a device that is determined by said determining as satisfying the predetermined condition.   
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 11 , further comprising calculating, based on at least the received radio field intensity, a distance between the device as the transmission source and the information processing apparatus, and
 wherein said determining includes determining the device as the transmission source as satisfying the predetermined condition in a case where the distance calculated by said calculating is shorter than a predetermined distance.   
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 10  wherein said transmitting includes transmitting the data by using wireless LAN communication. 
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 13 , further comprising acquiring setting information of the wireless LAN communication from the device selected by said first-mentioned selecting or said second-mentioned selecting, and
 wherein the wireless LAN communication is wireless communication based on the setting information acquired by said acquiring.   
     
     
         15 . The method according to  claim 14 , wherein said acquiring includes acquiring the setting information by using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) communication. 
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein the packet is an advertising packet of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). 
     
     
         17 . The method according to  claim 10  wherein the device list indicates a plurality of printing apparatuses, and
 wherein said transmitting includes transmitting a print job to a printing apparatus selected by said first-mentioned selecting or said second-mentioned selecting from the plurality of printing apparatuses. 
 
     
     
         18 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein in the device list, at least name of each device is shown. 
     
     
         19 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer-executable program for executing a method of controlling an information processing apparatus,
 wherein the method comprises:   receiving a packet;   generating a device list, based on the packet received by said receiving;   displaying the device list;   selecting a device from the device list, based on a received radio field intensity of the packet;   selecting a device from the device list, based on a selection operation by a user; and   transmitting data to the device selected by said first-mentioned selecting or said second-mentioned selecting.
