Abstract
A non-transitory computer readable medium is provided with computer executable instructions stored thereon executable by a processor in a vehicle to provide a valet mode of operation method. The method comprises: capturing a current location of said vehicle as an initial location in response to a valet mode of operation being activated; monitoring locations of the vehicle while the valet mode of operation is activated; and determining if the vehicle has moved more than a predetermined distance from the initial location while said valet mode of operation is activated.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A non-transitory computer readable medium with computer executable instructions stored thereon executed by a processor in a vehicle to provide a valet mode of operation method, the method comprising:
activating said valet mode of operation in response to said processor receiving a received activation request; capturing a current location of said vehicle as an initial location in response to said valet mode of operation being activated; monitoring locations of said vehicle while said valet mode of operation is activated; determining if said vehicle has moved more than a predetermined distance from said initial location while said valet mode of operation is activated; and initiating an alert if said vehicle moves more than said predetermined distance from said initial location while said valet mode of operation is activated.
2 . The method in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:
deactivating said valet mode of operation in response to the earlier of a received valet mode deactivate request and the lapse of a predetermined period of time.
3 . The method in accordance with claim 2 , comprising:
initiating each of said activate request and said valet mode deactivate request in response to a respective activate and deactivate action at a mobile device executing a valet mode application.
4 . The method in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:
initiating said activate request in response to an activate action at a mobile device executing a valet mode application; and deactivating said valet mode of operation in response to the earlier of a received valet mode deactivate request and the lapse of a predetermined period of time.
5 . The method in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:
determining if said vehicle has traveled at a speed greater than a predetermined speed while said valet mode of operation is activated; and initiating an alert if said vehicle travels at a speed greater than said predetermined speed while said valet mode of operation is activated.
6 . The method in accordance with claim 5 , comprising:
storing a received distance as said predetermined distance and a received speed as said predetermined speed in a memory accessible by said processor.
7 . The method in accordance with claim 6 , comprising:
receiving said predetermined distance and said predetermined speed from a mobile device.
8 . The method in accordance with claim 7 , comprising:
deactivating said valet mode of operation in response to a one of a received valet mode deactivate request and lapse of a predetermined period of time.
9 . The method in accordance with claim 8 , comprising:
initiating each of said activate request and said valet mode deactivate request in response to a respective activate and deactivate action at a mobile device, said mobile device executing a valet mode application.
10 . The method in accordance with claim 9 , comprising:
associating said vehicle uniquely with said mobile device.
11 . A computer-program product for providing a valet mode of operation of a vehicle, said product comprising a non-transitory computer-readable medium encoded with computer-executable instructions that, as a result of being executed by a processor disposed within a vehicle, said processor executes a method for providing a valet mode, the method comprising:
responding to a received activate request to activate said valet mode of operation; capturing a current location of said vehicle as an initial location when said valet mode of operation is activated; monitoring locations of said vehicle during the time that said valet mode of operation is activated; determining if said vehicle has moved more than a predetermined distance from said initial location during the time said valet mode is activated; and initiating an alert if said vehicle moves more than said predetermined distance from said initial location during said time that said valet mode of operation is activated.
12 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 11 , wherein said method comprises:
receiving said predetermined distance; and storing said predetermined distance in a memory accessible by said processor.
13 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 12 , wherein said method comprises:
deactivating said valet mode of operation in response to a received deactivate request to deactivate said valet mode of operation.
14 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 13 , wherein said method comprises:
deactivating said valet mode after a predetermined period of time.
15 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 11 , wherein said method comprises:
determining if said vehicle has traveled at a speed greater than a predetermined speed while said valet mode of operation is activated; and initiating an alert if said vehicle travels at a speed greater than said predetermined speed while said valet mode of operation is activated.
16 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 15 , wherein said method comprises:
receiving and storing said predetermined distance and said predetermined speed in a memory accessible by said processor.
17 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 16 , wherein said method comprises:
deactivating said valet mode of operation in response to a received deactivate request to deactivate said valet mode of operation.
18 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 17 , wherein said method comprises:
deactivating said valet mode after a predetermined period of time.
19 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 18 , wherein:
said activate request and said deactivate request are each initiated by a mobile device executing a valet mode application.
20 . The computer program product in accordance with claim 19 , wherein:
said vehicle is uniquely associated with said mobile device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
