Infusion Pump Assembly
Abstract
An infusion pump assembly is disclosed. The infusion pump assembly includes a locking tab and a pump barrel inside a pump barrel housing, where the pump barrel accommodates a reservoir assembly. The reservoir assembly includes a reservoir and a plunger rod. The infusion pump assembly also includes a locking disc at a terminus of the pump barrel. The locking disc includes a clearance hole for the plunger rod. The locking disc also includes at least one locking tab notch in close proximity with the locking tab. The locking tab is in moveable engagement with the locking tab notch, and the reservoir moves the locking tab from a locked position to an unlocked position when the plunger rod is inserted through clearance hole. The locking disc rotates upon torque being applied to the reservoir assembly, the locking disc rotating from a non-loaded position to a loaded position with respect to the plunger rod and a drive screw.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A delivery device for delivering an infusion medium to a user, the device comprising:
first and second housing portions configured to be selectively engaged together for operation and selectively separated from each other; a reservoir supported by the first housing portion, the reservoir including a reservoir housing having an interior volume; a plunger head moveable to selectively change the volume of the reservoir interior; a rod extending from the plunger head to a position outside of the reservoir housing, wherein the plunger rod comprises a detectable feature; and a sensor arranged to detect the detectable feature to provide a signal corresponding to the position of the detectable feature.
2 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a nut member being supported in fixed relation with the plunger rod, the nut member having a structure for engaging the plunger rod in any one of a plurality of positions in a first dimension relative to the nut member.
3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the nut member includes a detectable feature.
4 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a locking tab.
5 . The device of claim 4 , further comprising a pump barrel inside a pump barrel housing, the pump barrel accommodates the reservoir.
6 . The device of claim 5 , further comprising a locking disc at a terminus of the pump barrel, the locking disc having a clearance hole for the plunger rod and at least one locking tab notch, the locking disc being in close proximity with the locking tab.
7 . The device of claim 6 , wherein the locking disc rotates upon torque being applied to the reservoir, the locking disc rotating from a-non-loaded position to a loaded position with respect to said plunger rod and a drive screw.
8 . A delivery device for delivering an infusion medium to a user, the device comprising:
first and second housing portions configured to be selectively engaged together for operation and selectively separated from each other; a reservoir supported by the first housing portion, the reservoir including a reservoir housing having an interior volume; a plunger moveable to selectively change the volume of the reservoir interior; and a plunger rod extending from the plunger, the plunger rod including a threaded portion having an open side, wherein the plunger rod includes a detectable feature; and a sensor arranged to detect the detectable feature to provide a signal corresponding to the position of the detectable feature, wherein the position of the detectable feature corresponds to a fill state of the reservoir.
9 . The device of claim 8 , further comprising a drive screw supported by the second housing portion for rotation about a rotary axis, the drive screw being engageable with the threaded portion of the plunger rod as the first and second housing portions are brought together for operative engagement.
10 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the nut member includes a detectable feature.
11 . The device of claim 8 , further comprising a locking tab.
12 . The device of claim 11 , further comprising a pump barrel inside a pump barrel housing, the pump barrel accommodates the reservoir.
13 . The device of claim 12 , further comprising a locking disc at a terminus of the pump barrel, the locking disc having a clearance hole for the plunger rod and at least one locking tab notch, the locking disc being in close proximity with the locking tab.
14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the locking disc rotates upon torque being applied to the reservoir, the locking disc rotating from a-non-loaded position to a loaded position with respect to said plunger rod and a drive screw.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
