Abstract
Methods and devices for enhancing drinking chilled drinking vessels are provided. In some aspects, a concentric set of arms or tabs in a pre-configured section of a drinking vessel applies holding pressure to expanded water poured within the section. A beverage is then poured over the frozen water, submerging it. In other aspects, holding pressure is maintained through flexible and/or adjustable arms, and lateral play eliminated, even if the frozen water melts. In other embodiments, a loop or set of loops extends from the center of the vessel above the section, and separate, flexible members (preferably cambered) are threaded through the loops after the water is frozen to apply greater holding pressure.

A drinking vessel comprising a fluid-retaining cavity with at least one flexible arm extending from its inner lining, which at least one flexible arm is configured to grip and react with a holding force upon water and/or an aqueous fluid filling said fluid-retaining cavity up to a predetermined water level as said water and/or fluid are subjected to lower than freezing temperatures and expand to become frozen solid at the bottom of said glass.
2 . The drinking vessel of claim 1 , further comprising a vertical stanchion connected at, and concentric with, the bottom of said fluid-retaining cavity.
3 . The drinking vessel of claim 2 , wherein said vertical stanchion comprises or is connected to said at least one flexible arm.
4 . The drinking vessel of claim 1 , wherein said at least one flexible arm is connected to the walls of said fluid-retaining cavity.
5 . The drinking vessel of claim 1 , wherein said at least one flexible arm comprises a bend or camber and its end(s) are substantially lower than its center in a resting conformation, without physical interference.
6 . The drinking vessel of claim 5 , wherein said at least one flexible arm comprises at least one downward-facing tip or edge at said end(s).
7 . The drinking vessel of claim 6 , wherein said tip or edge rests at, about or above and abutting a water line or water line marker written in said vessel.
8 . The drinking vessel of claim 1 , wherein said at least one flexible arm is switchable between at least two different conformations.
9 . The drinking vessel of claim 8 , wherein a first conformation is at least partially in a higher vertical position than a second conformation, and said second conformation applies a constant holding force to any object fully occupying said fluid retaining cavity.
10 . The drinking vessel of claim 9 , wherein a user actuates said at least one flexible arm between said at least two different conformations with central tab within the base of said drinking vessel.
11 . A method for anchoring water or an aqueous solution below a fluid, comprising the following steps:
obtaining a drinking vessel comprising a fluid-retaining cavity with at least one flexible arm extending from its inner lining, which at least one flexible arm is configured to grip and react with a holding force upon water and/or an aqueous fluid filling said fluid-retaining cavity up to a predetermined water level as said water and/or fluid are subjected to lower than freezing temperatures and expand to become frozen solid at the bottom of said glass; filling said fluid-retaining cavity up to said predetermined water level, with water or an aqueous fluid; subjecting said drinking vessel and said water or fluid to lower than freezing temperatures, converting said water or fluid to a solid state, which then occupies greater space than before conversion into said solid state; removing said drinking vessel from said lower than freezing temperatures; introducing a second fluid, above said water or fluid and cooling it with said water or fluid in a solid state held at the bottom, below said second fluid.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
