Apparatus to extend the length of a necktie by five inches.

Abstract

The invention is an apparatus to add up to five inches of length to a necktie with the application of a 1 inch×6 inch plastic strip utilizing an acrylic adhesive 1 inch×1 inch square to attach the plastic strip to the tie tail or rear portion of the necktie. With the apparatus in place and the necktie is knotted or tied, the additional length enables rear portion of a necktie or tie tail to reach into the keeper loop or label on the back of the tie. The entire necktie is able to move naturally and the rear portion of the necktie or tie tail is kept in place behind the front of the necktie. The rear portion of a necktie or tie tail is able to easily move vertically within the keeper loop or label when the main tie moves during normal wear.

I. An apparatus to extend the length of a necktie by five inches.
 The apparatus of claim I lengthens a necktie by application of a single strip of vinyl plastic using an acrylic adhesive square. This invention allows the necktie to be worn normally and provides the wearer with a neat and professional appearance. 
 The apparatus of claim I is comprised of a 1 inch×6 inch×.03 inch vinyl plastic strip as the necktie extension material. This provides a long lasting application of the invention and enables the apparatus to automatically adjust to both the physical nature of the wearer and the characteristics of the necktie. 
 The apparatus of claim I utilizes a 1 inch×1 inch acrylic adhesive square to join the vinyl plastic strip to the rear narrow end portion of a necktie or the tie tail. The adhesive square is provided on a pad with tabs to make it simple to apply the invention to the necktie. 
 The apparatus of claim I is permanent in nature and does not have to be reapplied each time the tie is worn. 
 The apparatus of claim I application does not require any special changes as to how the necktie is knotted or worn. 
 The apparatus of claim I permits the entire necktie to move freely in a fashionable manner when the invention is applied to the necktie. 
 
     
     
       II. Device to restrain or control the rear narrow end portion of a necktie or tie tail.
 The device of claim II extends the length of the entire necktie so that the rear narrow end portion of the necktie or tie tail reaches into the keeper loop or label on the back of the necktie to limit the overall movement of the tie tail. 
 The device of claim II utilizes the existing keeper loop or label on the back of the necktie to receive the extended necktie. This restrains or controls the tie tail without any modification to the necktie. 
 The device of claim II prevents the rear narrow end portion of the necktie or tie tail from being visible to onlookers because the lateral movement of the rear portion of the necktie or tie tail is restrained or controlled as it is held within the keeper loop or label on the back of the necktie. 
 The device of claim II may be used where the tie originally did not have sufficient length to reach into the keeper or label on the back of the tie. The device can accommodate necktie wearers of any size, height or weight. 
 The device of claim II may be applied to any necktie regardless of its age. It can be used with old ties and does not have to be manufactured with the necktie. 
 
     
     
       III. Invention that is easy to apply and use with neckties without requiring any involved or difficult methods.
 The invention of claim III does not require sewing, ironing, Velco pads, magnets, fabric tapes, liquid glues, glue guns and other involved methods for applying the invention to the necktie. 
 The invention of claim III is permanently attaches to the necktie and does not require the apparatus or invention to be re-applied or installed by the wearer. 
 The invention of claim III does not require the repeated use of tie tacks, clips on chains, pins, tie clasps or threaded loops to easily restrain or control the tie tail. 
 The invention of claim III does not attach the necktie to the shirt, button holes, shirt buttons or other apparel being worn. The entire necktie is permitted to move freely.
