Abstract
A method for navigating through a predefined space is described herein. The method includes receiving, by a remote unit, a signal indicative of a selection of at least one destination category, wherein the selected destination category is associated with a plurality of destination locations. A position of each of the plurality of destination locations is determined within the predefined space. A final destination location is determined within the predefined space, an origination location of the remote unit is determined, and a first route is determined from the origination location to the final destination. The first route including each destination location included in the selected destination category.

providing a list of machine-readable codes, each machine-readable code being associated with a destination location; receiving, by a remote unit, a signal indicative of a selection of at least one of the machine-readable codes; determining a position of the destination location associated with the selected machine-readable code within the predefined space; determining an origination location of the remote unit; determining at least one intermediate location between the origination location and the destination location; and determining a first route from the origination location to the destination location, the route including the intermediate location.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each machine-readable code is associated with a destination category, each destination category being associated with a plurality of destination locations.
3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising determining one of the plurality of destination locations associated with a selected machine-readable code to be a final location and the remaining plurality of destination locations to be intermediate locations.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining a route from the origination location to the final location, the route including each intermediate location.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving signals indicative of a selection of a plurality of the machine-readable codes and determining a destination location associated with one of the selected machine-readable codes to be a final location and the remaining selected machine-readable codes to be intermediate locations.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising determining a route from the origination location to the final location, the route including each intermediate location.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the machine-readable code is a bar code.
8 . A system for navigating through a predefined space, the system comprising:
a display device; a scanning device configured to scan a machine-readable code from a list of machine-readable codes, each machine-readable code being associated with a destination location; and a controller configured to:
receive a signal indicative of a selection of at least one of the machine-readable codes;
determine a position of the destination location associated with the selected machine-readable code within the predefined space;
determine an origination location of a remote unit;
determine at least one intermediate location between the origination location and the destination location;
determine a route from the origination location to the destination location, the route including the intermediate location; and
display the route on the display device.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein each machine-readable code is associated with a destination category, each destination category being associated with a plurality of destination locations.
10 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising determining one of the plurality of destination locations associated with a selected machine-readable code to be a final location and the remaining plurality of destination locations to be intermediate locations.
11 . The system of claim 10 , further comprising determining a route from the origination location to the final location, the route including each intermediate location.
12 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising receiving signals indicative of a selection of a plurality of the machine-readable codes and determining a destination location associated with one of the selected machine-readable codes to be a final location and the remaining selected machine-readable codes to be intermediate locations.
13 . The system of claim 12 , further comprising determining a route from the origination location to the final location, the route including each intermediate location.
14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the machine-readable code is a bar code.
15 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions thereon, wherein when executed by at least one processor, the computer-readable instructions cause the at least one processor to:
provide a list of machine-readable codes, each machine-readable code being associated with a destination location; receive, by a remote unit, a signal indicative of a selection of at least one of the machine-readable codes; determine a position of the destination location associated with the selected machine-readable code within the predefined space; determine an origination location of the remote unit; determine at least one intermediate location between the origination location and the destination location; and determine a route from the origination location to the destination location, the route including the intermediate location.
16 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , wherein each machine-readable code is associated with a destination category, each destination category being associated with a plurality of destination locations.

The computer-readable storage media of claim 16 , wherein the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to determine one of the plurality of destination locations associated with a selected machine-readable code to be a final location and the remaining plurality of destination locations to be intermediate locations.
18 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 17 , wherein the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to determine a route from the origination location to the final location, the route including each intermediate location.
19 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , wherein the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to receive signals indicative of a selection of a plurality of the machine-readable codes and determine a destination location associated with one of the selected machine-readable codes to be a final location and the remaining selected machine-readable codes to be intermediate locations.
